We stayed at Central House with a large group of friends recently. The house is truly wonderful, lots of space and has two large open fires which was fantastic as it was a very cold weekend. Camilla had put the heating on and lit one of the fires before we arrived and there was a lovely bottle of wine and cheese and biscuits for us on the table. She was extremely helpful and showed us the quirks of the house.
The sitting room on the first floors has wonderful large window seats overlooking the sea.
All the beds were comfy and although we didn't use the basement - this would be an ideal space for teenagers who want to get away from the grown ups!
The courtyard is a good size but we didn't use it as it was mid winter but I would imagine in the Summer it is an ideal place to BBQ.
We would highly recommend this house and can't wait to come back.
Thank you to the owner and thank you to Keepers Cottages who were a delight to deal with.
Deal is a charming seaside town with a fantastic range of independent shops and great pubs. Our favourite was The Deal Hoy with good pizzas on a Friday night.
The Ship in pretty Middle Street was a real local pub which has happy hour most nights!!
Fabulous house, beautifully furnished, plenty of space and in a beautiful location. Instructions on how to work the heating and hot water would have been useful. Keepers Cottages were very friendly and amenable.
The photos just don't do it justice. It is an absolutely fabulous property. The living and dining spaces were huge making it a very sociable stay. The log fires were cosy. What made our New Year's Eve extra special was the front row seats we had of Deal fireworks that went off along the seafront and pier for a good half a hour.
The owners clearly have an artist flare as the artwork in the property is fabulous and makes every room tell a different story.
We had a wonderful stay and are already plotting a return visit. Can't recommended it highly enough.
The property is a great size, especially the communal areas, with great art, furnishings and views. The staff at Keepers Cottages were very helpful with any questions and local knowledge.
A lovely home on the seafront at Deal, ideal for a large family or group get away
Pros:- easy booking and excellent response from rental manager. Fantastic location. Good sized communal areas with great outlook from 1st floor lounge. Comfortable furniture. Enjoyed the artwork. Beds were comfortable (although on a slant in some rooms!). Good tips re places to eat. Good garden area. Accurate description of the house on the website.
Cons:- Agent letting us in was late and didn't really tell us about the house, especially as there were no instructions provided for the house, whiteware/equipment in the house. Only 1 set of keys for the group. Would have been good to have been left 1-2 dishwasher tablets to use. Towel/linen stained and crockery/utensils were not particularly clean. Ground floor bathroom could be repainted/spruced up and water supply to upstairs toilets was slow.
We had a fabulous stay here with family and friends. The house is right on the seafront so you can almost literally roll out of bed and into the sea for a morning swim.
Throughout the house is an amazing collection of art and quirky furnishing that makes it such a lovely place to stay. How they got the roll top bath to the top of the building I have no idea!
The only downside that I hadn't considered were some of the stairs were a bit awkward for some of our guests, so be aware if booking for a group with less mobile people or tiny children.
Lovely big dining room that was wonderful for a couple of evenings of home cooked meals and fitted the house guests plus some other friends who were staying at another property nearby, plenty of room for everyone.
The lounge area is perfect, with a wonderful view of the sea and really cosy with the fire going.
Camilla at Keepers Cottages was really helpful too and made the whole process really easy.
A great place and I can imagine coming back.
