Owner description: Take a look behind the scenes at Shepherd Neame – Britain’s oldest brewer. You guide will take you through the heart of the brewery so you can see the traditional mash tuns; taste natural mineral water from the brewery’s well; try some malted barley; smell locally-grown Kentish hops; see bygone delivery vehicles and step into a recreated cooper’s workshop. Finally there’s a fascinating tutored tasting of Shepherd Neame’s Kentish ales and speciality lagers. Tours run most days - advance booking is strongly recommended and you should allow 2 hours for your visit

This tour is excellent our guide Martyn was very knowledgeable. Beer tasting afterwards was also informative. As I was not tasting they provided me with a soft drink. Excellent way to spend an afternoon in Faversham.

Thank Lazeh

This was our second attempt at the Brewery tour and this time was very successful.. a good trip round a lovely old Brewery that still brews beer properly without any faddy terms like '' Craft''..''Artisan''..or the like.
Although not in service some of the ancient equipment is still on site to be viewed e.g. the old mash tun plates set into the floor of the video room...or the steam engines preserved in another room.Old Cooper shop..old drays of yesteryear...etc.
Martyn put on a good tour for us and a tasting of half a dozen beers afterwards..very nice.
The only criticism I would have would be either more opportunity for Questions or a Q&A session after.
Otherwise..top tour..highly recommended.

Thank Riothamus

Well what a surprise our tour guide Allen was informative, interesting, funny and sincere in his presentation. You could hear what he was saying wherever you stood in the group of 20+. The processes were explained and any questions were answered. The beer tasting at the end was also very informative and a pleasure to be involved with. The beer served in the visitor centre was excellent as the barman knew his stuff so much so that we went to the Anchor for lunch and more beer.

Thank Peter F

This tour was well organised, delivered by our guide Alan with knowledge and humour. It gives insight into the brewing process and also the brewing industry. There's a strong sense of pride surrounding Britain's oldest brewer, and when you get to the tasting at the end you find out why. Thoroughly recommended.
