If you're a large family looking for somewhere to stay on your way to the ferry crossing then this place is ideal. They have a family room than comfortably sleeps 6 with ensuite. Staff are welcoming a friendly and the location is beautiful. Right on the beach. It was a great start for our trip to France.

Planned a last minute trip to Margate so was trying to find a place to stay on a budget. Rooms here were nice and cheap at £32 for the night. Wasn't expecting much for the price but the staff were nice and friendly and the check-in process nice and easy. I was out until 2am and there was no problems with me returning in the early ours of the morning. The bedrooms are all separate weren't the best but you get what you paid for. Room for 2 had a single bunk bed and a sink. The pillows were quite thin so had to use the one from the top bunk as well. There was free wifi to use and a couple of plug sockets (although in awkward places away from the bed and chair).
In short, I enjoyed my visit and would stay again if needed for the price. The rooms are very basic but if you're just looking for a bed for the night then it does the job.

Excellent sea-front location with views out to sea from the dining room. . Very clean public areas and bathrooms with a lovely hot shower. Very clean and well-equipped shared kitchen. A nice touch were the games and books to borrow in the lounge. The beach is just across the road and gives you a bracing 15 min walk to the Turner and 10 min walk to Dreamland and the station.
Our room was very tired though with a broken light and definitely in need of TLC. Check in/out very easy but impersonal. Staff the money and seem to disappear which left my daughter a little anxious that were in a place with no staff support available in an emergency. In fact she ending up having to help a bit of a bossy man with the WIFI as no one was around to help him which took half an hour of our holiday time which is precious to us. Leave someone on site from your check in time 5pm to your check out 10.00am and it would improve the customer's experience.

Room Tip: Front of the house as you would have sea-views. We were in room 10 with view of fire escape and yard.

Location is excellent - an attractive 10-15 minute walk along the seafront to the Turner. Some rooms have sea views. Staff and owner very friendly and accomodating - (we booked in after 10pm) and rooms and showers, kitchen etc spotless. Kitchen fantastically well equiped - highly recommended and many thanks

Room Tip: ask for a sea view!

My friends and I came to the Alpha hostel for the second time. The location is pretty good. You are 5 minutes walk away from a tesco metro and 15 minutes away from the main promenade. The rooms are basic - the sort you'd expect for the price you're paying. The actual running of the hostel, however, leaves much to be desired. The staff are generally quite frosty and don't make you feel particularly welcome. The managers are around in the hostel most of the time but are less than enthusiastic about making your stay comfortable. For every night we stayed, they would sit in the second living area and speak amongst themselves, which is fine but we felt we were inconveniencing them when asking general questions and about the facilities. Having had experiences in various other hostels before, their attitude was certainly not in keeping with what you might expect. On our first stay at this hostel, we were made aware that they were uncomfortable with a (small) group of young people staying at the hostel (which is certainly not in the spirit of hosteling). Additionally on this stay, after being told there was 24 hour entry into the hostel, we arrived back at 12:30am with key but the door was double locked. After multiple rings of the doorbell and numerous calls to the hostel phone, we reverted to banging on the door (to the inconvenience of ourselves and everyone trying to get a peaceful nights sleep!) and were let in after about 20 minutes. This, it is safe to say, shook us up quite a bit and was completely unexpected. We were concerned that we would have nowhere to sleep that night, and feel the staff should have provided us with an emergency after hours contact in case a guest double locks the front door. On the positive, you are located on the beautiful seafront with basic clean rooms. So, overall, the facilities were of a good standard but those running them really let the place down.
