We have just stayed here for one night and we are so impressed ! Everything was perfect, beautiful room, luxurious bathroom, comfy, comfy bed with delicious bed linen, duvet and pillows. We stayed in Knightrider House with all its comforts, lovely sitting room with bar, kitchen equipped for tea making in the morning and Devine garden.

Th Jekyll gardens are spectacular and we took a very early morning stroll around them in awe of the work carried out there. Breakfast in the main house was excellent and we were waited on by friendly staff. This was our first visit to Sandwich and thought it such a pretty and interesting place that we would love to return for a weekend, we now know the best place to stay!

What a great find this property was! We really loved the place, the welcome and the service.

The property has over the last years been renovated and restored, which includes the buildings as well as the stunning gardens, with style and flair.

The Salutation is located in the heart of Sandwich near to the river, but is quiet and secluded at the same time. Within the property is the main house, where you have breakfast and the owners live. Then there is the Knightrider House (where we stayed) which has a number of rooms but also has a lounge, dining room and kitchen. So you can either take the whole place with a group or take individual rooms. There is then also 2 other buildings with accommodation, and again you can take the whole place or rooms within them.

The Knightrider House was fantastic. We were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves as we were there out of a busy period. We stayed in the St George room on the 1st floor, which was huge with a massive and very comfortable bed and en suite bathroom. In the lounge there are comfy sofas and a bar with drinks and mixers that are included in the price. We ended up using the kitchen a few times, which was also great. It may be a bit uncomfortable if there are a number of different people staying in the various rooms who do not know each other on quite how to interact and use the lounge, dining room and kitchen.

You can enter the gardens from the Knightrider House. The gardens are amazing, and in Summer a popular place for tourists to visit and so there is a tea room and gift shop also open on the property in season.

The hosts were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was served in a magnificent room in the main house and was extensive and tasty.

Highly recommend The Salutation. Relaxing, welcoming and stylish

We had the pleasure of staying at The Salutation's, Knightrider House in the St George's suite and could not have wished for anything more. The attention to detail is amazing, from your own bar in the beautiful lounge (all included in price) to the sherry & whisky on your dresser for a quick evening tipple all add to the personal charm of the stay. Breakfast is in the main house looking out onto the terrace and gardens, the food expertly prepared by their charming chef. The welcoming and friendly staff all ensure you feel like you have always lived here! The bedroom (and en-suite) are wonderful and the bed sumptuous making it difficult to leave the house and venture out. When you do there is the famous Secret Gardens and picturesque Sandwich village to explore, with its quaint shops and not a chain store in site! How they have kept the usual coffee suspects away is a credit to the local council. Their is a tea room (open spring to late autumn - so we have to come back) and a small gift shop on the grounds (linked to the Secret Garden ao plant lovers can get their fix here). Dominic and the team at the Salutation have invested heavily in this famous estate and we are sure that it will continue to be the place to go for affordable luxury in Kent. We are already planning our next visit, this time with family and friends too. 10/10

Room Tip: Knightrider House is great for couples or a large group and has its own garden & terrace.
