Called in on an unplanned visit, glad we did. Dog friendly, hurrah! Really warm and cosy. Decent food and cheap as chips. Avoid if you're looking for overpriced, pretentious food. Attend if you want decent food in a great pub atmosphere. We had several drinks and 3 courses and it was so cheap that my husband asked if they'd definitely added up everything we'd had!

I often visit the Hare and Hounds, either with friends or my husband.
One of the reasons I love it - is that you can take your dog in, and after a walk around the reservoirs it is the perfect end.
The food is always home cooked and fresh. My personal favourites are the cheese and onion pie / fish and chips or the halloumi cheese burger.
The atmosphere is bustling at the weekends or bank holiday Monday - especially if the weather is sunny. During the week it tends to be quiet.

Stopped here for lunch, as part of a long country walk from Egerton to Abbey Village. There was a large walking group already in pub ordering lunch, but I got my order of soup quickly. Pleasant enough stop but nothing special. Handy location, given length of walk.

What a great surprise this place was! We dropped in for an impromptu lunch only to find that there was a German menu available with traditional dishes! Being a big fan of German food mean't this was promising. The food arrived and looked superb and the best bit was, it tasted even better than it looked. All freshly made with evidently good ingredients. Amazing.

Wonderful service as well which is always a bonus!

We shall soon becoming regulars here!
