Arrived at Simonstone Hall a couple of days after Christmas. We have visited here before 4 years ago, now it is under new management and is better for it. The rooms have been refurbished and the bar meal/evening meal situation is much better. Now they serve evening meal from 6pm, which is better for children. The hotel itself is stunning both inside and out. It has a well stocked gin bar and welcoming roaring log fire. The walk down to Hardraw Force takes about 10 minutes, but is quite steep coming back.
We found the staff friendly and helpful. The only downside are the child's beds which were not uncomfortable as one of them didn't have springs just hard wooden planks, which meant our son spent most of the night in our bed - although we had paid the privilege of £40 each for the z beds - definitely not worth it.
Overall an enjoyable break, This is an ideal hotel for anyone looking to get away from it all in stunning surroundings.More
