Redfoot Lea Bed and Breakfast

Redfoot Lea was a superb base from which to explore the highlights of beautiful Northumberland. Situated just outside Alnwick it is very central and as it is not right in the town there was no trouble with parking as this is on site - in fact we parked right next to our door!!

The B&B itself was lovely - stylish contemporary design but incredibly homely - the kind of place you don't want to leave! The house was spotlessly clean with beautiful en suite bathrooms and extremely comfortable beds.

Philly was a great host, always on hand if necessary to help with recommendations and the breakfasts were delicious as was the different cakes we received each day to have with our late afternoon cup of tea.

All in all I would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone and I would certainly recommend a long weekend or week in Northumberland. One of the best UK holidays I have ever had!

Just returned from a short stay at Redfoot Lea. What a super place and very convenient for Alnwick. Phillipa's daughter Victoria looked after us superbly and we enjoyed her warm hospitality and excellent cooking. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Hope to come back again soon!

On arrival we found fresh flowers awaiting us and a whole basket of goodies - eggs, bread, milk etc. Philly was most welcoming, showed us where to park, explained the workings of everything & gave us the keys. We came & went as we pleased, helped by the extensive selection of maps & leaflets, & in the evenings we had the choice of watching TV / DVDs, listening to music or reading from a selection of books provided, but wifi was also available, which was very useful.

The king size bed was extremely comfortable & the shower hot & powerful & the rooms were light, airy & spacious.

Alnwick is no distance away, with all sorts of amenities and the coast & countryside around are superb. We packed in visits to Cragside, Beamish, North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Hadrian's Wall & Lindisfarne, as well as a walk along the coast path near Bamburgh, where the waves were crashing over the rocks & the spray & wind whipping round us made it a breathtaking & invigorating experience!

We loved the peace & quiet, the unspoilt countryside, the warm welcome, the feeling of being in a small community group at Redfoot Lea, the freedom & the space, the wide open skies & the unpolluted fresh air.

What we liked least was having to leave - but we shall be back!

The best B & B we have stayed in. Recommended by friends and exceeded all expectations.Philly and Andrew made us feel so welcome. The room was fantastic with tea & coffee facilities, cake and biscuits every day and all the toiletries you could wish for. The breakfasts were brilliant , especially the smoked salmon, kippers and fresh fruit every day. It was a pleasure to stay in their beautiful home. An ideal location for visiting that part of Northumberland.

Just outside of Alnwick you can find this cosy and lovely B&B. This is that kind what you call "a home from home". It was our first stay here and we enjoyed the 2 days (and nights) very much. Phillippa was very nice and helpful. The cooked breakfast was very delicious (fresh fruits, cererals, full english breakfast, juice, coffee, tea,...). There were Mineral water, cakes, coffee/tee making facilities in the nice decorated room and an comfortable shower in the bathroom. The restaurants are not in walking distance (not in clubbing-shoes ;o) ) but you will find a good one – ask Phillippa, she will tell you!
I am sure that we will come back to Redfoot Lea when we are in this area again

All the reviews are true Redfoot Lea is a fantastic place to stay. Philly our host went out of her way to make us welcome into her beautiful home. I have some dietary problems but Philly even looked up recipe on the internet to cook me dairy free pancakes for breakfast and got oatcakes in for me instead of bread, no hotel would have done that.
We ate at the treehouse resturant at Alnwick castle, it is best to book at least a week in advance as it is not open every night and gets very busy.
Northumberland is a great place for a short break, and staying at Redfoot Lea made it perfect.

Room Tip: Book early as it is very popular
