“Lovely place for lunch/dinner”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

This Hotel and restaurant was refurbished a few years ago and is now a smart, but comfortable place to visit- especially for lunch and dinner. The colour scheme is full of co ordiating period colours, french greys, creams, and fawns which create a calm and relaxing, and sumptious atmosphere.
We have visited a few times to dine and have always found it friendly and well staffed with just the right amount of luxury, good food and wine, yet with an unstuffy relaxed atmosphere.
Lovely destination venue for a special occassion, or just a good lunch as a treat.

Thank you to kevin and all the staff for making our 3days away very comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel was of an excellent standard and the food was superb. We ate in the restaurant every evening and ate a wonderful breakfast of a morning. We will be returning again in the summer.

We went here again after a marvelous time last year. The inside is immaculate , The decor is of such sumptuous taste ! I could move in ; it was so comfortable.
The food ? A treat for the taste buds ! Gourmet level. The staff are so polite and respectful and courteous. It's like being back in the old days when a customer meant something and was not a person to be ridiculed or ignored as is the prevelant case these days. Not here though. You can expect the best service, accommodation and food and you GET it !! Make a point of treating yourself to a lush meal on your birthday or any other special day and the hotel make it worth your while. I won't tell you what they do as that would spoil it for you. but it is a must -visit !!

Room Tip: The back faces onto it's own courtyard with a private garden. their is plenty of room to park yo...

We stayed at the Collingwood Arms for 2 nights over New Year and had a wonderful relaxing time.

The ambience is delightful. The lounges, bar and dining rooms are beautifully decorated in country house style. The bedrooms leave you in no doubt that this is a country house but have all the contemporary conveniences you might wish for as well as being spacious.

The food is excellent and in just 2 days you may need to adjust your waistband as temptation is at it's greatest with all the home made goodies on offer - no mass produced fare here!

If this is not enough to tempt you add on a team of staff and management who clearly enjoy their work and can't do enough for you - we can't wait to go back!

I booked this hotel for my wife's 40th birthday and it did not disapoint.
The hotel is lovely from the outside and it just gets better as you go in. The hall way is very impressive and the stone floor is quite grand.
We booked a suite which was on the second floor, but that wasn't a problem and our luggage was carried up for us.
The food was of a high standard and the menu is not over priced.
The breakfast was also of a very high quality and the dinning room over looked the gardens, which was very pleasant.
We went with our two small children who were well looked after and also enjoyed their stay.

Highly recommend this lovely hotel and my wife had a good birthday too!

We stayed at the quite delightful Collingwood Arms for the fourth time in four years. The warm welcome from the ever effervescent Kevin never wanes. It is like being welcomed into your own home. Sadly, the fishing was not as hot as the welcoming fire and we found ourselves washed out after day 1 of 3. Still, having a couple of days in this beautiful area with nothing to do is no great hardship. None of us had clubs or shoes but all of us had the desire to play some average golf. Kevin had us fully equipped and on the 1st tee of a Members Only club within hours. His powers of organisation much better than our Golf! Likewise, trout fishing. Kevin came to the rescue and organised fishing for us. This, he manages to fit around running one of the best hotels I have been to in the UK. The staff are fantastic and are a great credit to the Collingwood. The food as always was top notch. The Collingwood Arms is a gem. It is when I stay in other supposedly top hotels, I realise just how lucky (and spoiled) I am to have discovered it amongst the 'also rans'.

From the moment you walk through the door and feel the heat of the fire in the hall, you feel relaxed and comfortable. Our room was a "standard" but was beautifully decorated (like a Farrow and Ball show house!), large, spotless and well equiped. The dining room is lovely- formal yet quite relaxed, and the food was great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. We also had a dog with us who had luxury kennel accommodation to the rear of the hotel, at no extra cost.

Room Tip: The standard rooms tend not to have baths but the large rain head on the showers and lovely Molton B...
