“Warm, clean, cosy and Kate, the owner, was very helpful!”
Reviewed February 13, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We stayed for three nights on a bright and not too cold January weekend. The cottage is lovely. I could've quite happily stayed there the entire weekend, cooking and enjoying the fireplace with a good book. The area is truly wonderful, with some cracking views and pubs serving great local dishes and meats.

The beds are comfy and neither couple felt hard done by with the room allocation as both were nice and spacious. I just wish I could've stayed a little longer to properly explore!

“Simply Perfect”

After a long 5 hour drive from Bristol, over hills, through valleys and winding roads in thick fog, it was lovely to be greeted by Kate (the owner) who had just lit the fire for us, and had left some freshly baked cheese scones.
The Hemmel, is beautifully decorated and very comfortable, and our dachshund loved being able to run from room to room without having to conquer stairs. Stunning local scenery and plenty of places to visit. We enjoyed chilly walks in the fog, and cosy evenings by the fire.
The only downside, having to leave to head back to the hustle and bustle of life.
I would definitely recommend the Hemmel and plan to visit again one day.

“Brilliant accommodation, fantastic hosts.”
Reviewed July 29, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Having stayed in a lot of self-catering accommodations all over the UK, the Hemmel is right up there! Kate has thought of everything! The beds were very comfortable, kitchen had all the amenities you'd need, loved the big shower and above all, it was very clean. Kate made us feel very welcome and her hot stone massage is to die for! Would definitely recommend the Hemmel!

The Hemmel is a home from home with amazing views. Modern, clean, fully equipped, fabulous location for us for a wedding, biking around Kielder, lovely local walks and family so it ticked all our boxes and much more. Kate the owner was amazing and even checked in on our four legged family member while we were at the wedding!!! Simply wonderful and would highly recommend - we will be back.

“Beautifully clean and well equipped, spacious cottage.”
Reviewed June 25, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Stayed for a week in the Hemmel in mid May and although the weather was a bit on the cool side the cottage was a welcome retreat to return to each day. It was warm, spacious and very well equipped. Everything was spotlessly clean. Lovely comfy bed. The cheese scones on arrival were lovely (although my husband didn't realise this and nearly put jam on them )!

Would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage for couples or a family as the huge enclosed garden would be great for children to play in.

Would stay again without any hesitation should we visit Northumberland again.

“Lovely warm and friendly place to stay”
Reviewed March 15, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

The house was really lovely, we went for half term in February, the welcome was great we had warm scones, jam and cream on arrival, very nice. Great location, we spent most of the week in and around kielder forest which was about 45 minutes away, the location is great with amazing views and lots of great local walks, our little girl went for a 30minute horse ride locally which she loved. The hemmel has everything you need and is amazingly warm with the underfloor heating and wood burning Fire. The house is on a working farm which was great, just throw your wellies on and explore. We would definitely go back, thank you.

“Modern, Spacious and New Barn Conversion, Ideal for a Peaceful Getaway”
Reviewed September 14, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We stayed at The Hemmel for a long weekend after previously staying at the neighbouring cottage on the Old Town Farm. Both are equally as nice but very different in appearance. The Hemmel is a lovely, modern barn conversion with everything you would need for a trip away to Northumberland. All the rooms are fantastic; the bathroom especially. It is well equipped with Wi-Fi and a DVD player and plenty of kit in the kitchen to keep the keenest of chefs happy!

It is in an ideal location, just off the A68 and only 25 minutes drive to Kielder which is beautiful.

It has an enclosed garden to the front and magnificent views of the Cheviot Hills and neighbouring Otterburn to the rear. There are plenty of walks nearby and Kate, the owner, is the perfect host who is always on hand with helpful advice.

The Hemmel is an ideal place for a small group to stay (no more than 4) and somewhere we would thoroughly recommend!
