“Beautiful views and very clean”
Reviewed 30 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Just arrived home after staying for a midweek break in this lovely cottage. Very clean with extra little 'touches'.... Flowers, gorgeous cake and milk in the fridge for the tea was much welcomed. Thank you. With reference to the previous review and access to property I had no issues at all. The lanes are as you expect in rural areas and I was able to get through the gates with my Skoda Yeti no problem, driving straight in and reversing straight out... No messing!
Would definitely recommend.

“Quiet, warm, comfortable and well equipped - central for exploring Exmoor”
Reviewed 4 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

First the words of caution...to reach this cottage you need to drive along some very narrow lanes and getting into and out of the parking area is rather tight. If you have a large car or are not a confident driver these could be a problem. Also the "Veranda" is really a concrete walkway with a drop to one side of about 2 feet onto more concrete...this might not be safe for small children. Now to the good stuff....the cottage itself is lovely and cannot be faulted in anyway. It is warm, bright, quiet, well equipped and we loved it. Having the extra en suite bathroom was useful as I was with my elderly mother and it meant we could each have our own bathroom. Opposit the cottage are several fields marked as "Private NO Access" but I went further along the lane and found a field that I could walk my dog in and where I befriended some Exmoor ponies and another time I saw a herd of deer. The location is ideal for exploring Exmoor with Tarr Steps only a vew miles away and pretty Withypool and Winsford also close. It is within 20 miles of the north coast. We were lucky with the weather with sunshine everyday, but there is plenty to do in the area whatever the weather. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who loves the countryside and a quiet location.

Management Response
24 Oct 2015
Whilst we are confident that these guests enjoyed their stay we are sorry that they have issued words of caution which are either unreasonable or outside their actual experience.
The access lane is a single track in places with passing places which is typical in Exmoor and not an unreasonable price to pay for a tranquil rural getaway.
We have had a full size executive estate and a Nissan Navarra crew cab pickup parked at the same time with the gates closed with no adverse comments. The guest appeared to have no problems parking.
Likewise we have had toddlers staying (this guest had no children) without comment or issue. The veranda is paved and is accurately depicted in the photo gallery. It has been enjoyed by all the guests including this one.
It seems a pity to risk putting off potential guests without foundation. We have many very satisfied repeat visitors.

“Comfortable and relaxing accommodation in beautiful surroundings”

The Cowshed is a spacious well appointed accommodation in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The ideal place to stay at any time of the year. Spoilt for choice for walks and cycling routes and only a short distance from the lovely town Dulverton with its quaint shops and nearby villages where some excellent pubs can be found. Only a short 'ish walk or bike ride away are Tarr steps, Exmoor pony centre and the atmospheric moor itself with breathtaking views ... the perfect place to relax and unwind.

“Lovely setting, well equipped, enjoyed our stay”
Reviewed 9 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We stayed over a May bank holiday weekend. The accommodation is spacious, warm and well equipped. Lovely walks and views in surrounding countryside. We will hopefully visit again. We particularly liked the fact that the cupboards were stocked with a few essentials for those who had forgotten to bring something. Many thanks.

“Lovely comfortable cottage”

We stayed in the cottage for four nights with our dog Indie, primarily to explore a new area of Exmoor and try some new walks. The Cowshed is beautifully presented by the housekeeper (unlike some dog friendly cottages), it is very clean, spacious and comfortable. Janet has thought of everything, you want for nothing if you are fully self catering. The home made cake and strawberries and cream left for us was such a lovely welcome. Although close to Dulverton it feels very secluded and is very quiet with dog walks on the door step. We will definitely return. Highly recommended as is The Bridge Inn and the Thai restaurant in Dulverton (we had an excellent takeaway)
