The staff make this hotel so helpful and friendly but when I stay here I always have the weirdest dreams and sleep walk.

Is a bit dated but they seem to be renovating some parts.

The area is sweet and dainty everything is pretty close so it's easy to get about.

I recommend staying on the top floors as it's much more quite

Looks great from outside, young receptionist very helpful and pleasant.Stayed in room 3. Room very spacious and reasonably clean, but like stepping back in time to the 1980s,old decor wallpaper, wardrobes etc. Kettle, tea utensils mounted on wall shelf 3 ft off the floor, nearest socket by tv but only one side working, so you have to get on your hands and knees unplug tv and plug kettle in for a cuppa. Bathroom, old twin mixer tap with flexible shower head hose, Shower did not work, lever was stuck solid, was going to leave it but £80 for overnight stay without breakfast no chance. Called receptionist who was very helpful, but couldnt fix it, no maintenance guy and no alternative shower room offered on request. Sorry just not good enough. Hope management have read this and consider some reimbursement but somehow dont think so.

The Receptionist was very pleasant and accommodating, the two rooms we stayed in were clean with everything you needed for an overnight stay!
The bedrooms and en suit are in need of an update, peeling wallpaper, grouting in the bathroom etc.
I was surprised that the hotel didn't have its own car park so that was slightly inconvenient having to carry our bags such a way and obviously having to pay car parking fees.
The breakfast was of poor standard bacon was the smoked streaky variety and at £9.40 for x2 pieces of streaky bacon x2 eggs and X1 sausage it certainly wasn't worth the money!

Our third stay in ten years and definitely our last. The room was dirty, grubby with stained carpet, peeling wallpaper, chipped and unpainted woodwork and the overall feeling of dirt. A great shame as this could be a beautiful place but is in need of a complete overhaul. The receptionist did not bother to enquire if everything was okay, I wonder why. £80 for the stay without breakfast and a nerve to even allow this room, room 7 to be used. Poor options for parking, the library next door can be used after 5pm but during the day it's pay and display wherever you find a place. The state of the room and the price of the breakfast does not make it a good option and there is plenty of places to eat elsewhere.

Room Tip: If you do stay ignore room 7

Oh dear what a shame. This hotel needs a serious input of money to bring it up to date. Very tired, dated, shabby and pretty grubby. We were in room 1 which was a very big room but smelt a bit damp and had a horrible old carpet that was very stained. The en suite was also large but only had a shower over the bath rather than separate cubicle, and the tiling was broken and grouting dirty. The decor was very dated - had no idea that wallpaper borders were still in fashion! Couple of positives - the bed was comfy and room reasonably quiet. Staff were friendly by breakfast was just average and certainly not worth the cost of £13.50. Don't think we'll bother returning.

A dated hotel with plans in the works for enlargement including a car park.

We had a large room with ensuite. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and we had a good night's rest. TV wall mounted was small, maybe 27", so from the bed it is tiny. The room needs some updating: furniture, walls, bathroom. Everything was functional just the appearance was not the best.

This hotel has a good location and there is parking about one block away near Waitrose. That lots costs 1 pound sterling per hour but is free from 7PM until 8AM.

Breakfast was expensive with a full English breakfast at 13.75 pounds sterling.

Given what I know I'd stay here again but maybe eat elsewhere.

Room Tip: Corner rooms for warmer nights to get a cross ventilation

This hotel could be fantastic. Very friendly and helpful staff, a fabulous breakfast with great choice, spacious bedrooms, but lets itself down on bedroom decor which is tatty and in need of modernisation. It is also expensive - we paid £90 for one night which did not include breakfast. We had to fork out another £10 each for a light cooked breakfast. i would expect at least a comtinental breakfast be included for that price! Also, there is no parking which was a slight issue. Luckily we were able to park in the library carpark next door, but had to move our car by 8 the next morning - a bit inconvenient.
