Stayed here after randomly looking on google maps for accommodation located outside Wentworth as we wanted a relaced countryside stay for the weekend while we checked out Lake Mungo and other attractions.
We stayed in the self-contained half-log cabin "cooks cottage" out the back of the main buildings, as its dog friendly. It was in original condition, with pressed tin decoration, basic facilities and no fancy renovations but comfortable and relaxing after a day out and bedding provided as well as a full vintage 'kitchen' to use. We loved sitting outside the cottage eating and drinking, smelling the flowers, and listening to the abundance of birds and a gecko. We went down to the Darling river to paddle our feet, joined our hosts for a friendly BBQ out the front of the main homestead building, and wandered amongst the fruit trees, old homestead buildings such as the 'bakehouse', looked at a horse, patted the hosts dog Poppy, and relaxed some more.
Our dog loved it too, though furry dogs might not like the birs that are everywhere in this part of Australia...
Highly recommended it as the most authentic experience of just hanging out in a real old homestead in the countryside of outback NSW.
