We drove out to see the Ocean Beach on a drizzling, rainy day. It was quite cold and windy but we still enjoyed the chance to see the beach.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. A beach, by the ocean. We went for a long walk on a windy day and felt as if we'd left civilisation a thousand miles behind us. Loved the isolation, the smell of the sea and the big sky.

If you visit here at sunset you will not be dissapointed, take your camera and be captivated by the setting sun on the great West coast of Tasmania.

By being here, you could appreciate the scope of our Mother Nature. If we were to compare the vista with a cinema screen, this is definitely the IMAX screen, and when the Westerly wind blows, it blows. And as that occurs, you are exposed to the full might of the Dolby Sound. It's simply glorious by being there witnessing the ever changing vista of the cloud formation. Ocean Beach is flat and expansive, and it extends itself for a majestic 70km. However, what's even more intriguing is that should you set sail westward you would end up eventually at South America. Thus, the reason why this spot has one of the cleanest air in the world but at the same time, it also brings a lot of rain to the region, and that when it rains, it pelts down in a huge way. Locals would stress to you not to attempt surfing there despite you could see good break in the horizon. The reason being the water there is rough. Highly recommended.

Easy access and egress to and from the beach. An easy transition to the firm beach and kilometers of beautiful scenery. 4WD a must.
