Having a great time, the fire at night is awesome. Theres a nice woollen tassie blanket to keep me warm at night. I drive and walk all day and come home to piermint to get cosy, light the fire, the people working here are chatty. Its warm during the day and cold at night.the restaurant food is tasty, wallaby with an ash, and little rolls straight from the oven look like the rocks and stones on the beach.

The Piermont Retreat presents idyllic relaxation on hilltops overlooking the sea and north toward the Freycinet Peninsula. The views over sunlit sparkling waters are breathtaking and walking along the beach at the foot of the retreat was a joy.
Being 3 km south of Swansea, the Retreat is in the middle of wine country and has ready access to the magnificent Freycinet Peninsula National Park. Accommodation is in cabins spread around the acreage. Our cabin was comfortable with views to the north enabling us to take in morning and afternoon sun and all the beauty of the seaside landscape. The cabin was decorated in whites and light blue.. It was comfortably appointed with an excellent bathroom and spa.
Restaurant dining is available in the reception block. We enjoyed two excellent evening meals of restaurant quality and with excellent and most attentive service. The local produce was fresh and interesting and the accompanying local wines were of excellent quality.
The area abounds with wineries, oyster farms and local food and vegetable producers. We also enjoyed a delightful lunch on the veranda at the Milton Winery. Piermont staff are only too willing to give you a rundown on the attractions of the area.
The Piermont team was excellent. They were pleasant attentive and knew their business.
With perfect weather, our stay at Piermont was a delight in every respect. A perfect place for a tired traveller to catch his or her breath.

My wife and I had 2 nights in February and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our cottage was down by the beach and very private and very comfortable. The dinners and staff were excellent. I particularly enjoyed the fairy-wrens which were everywhere.

Couple of things you should know about Piermont Retreat if you plan to stay here:

A) cottages have no wifi, which you would think for the price you are paying, should be standard. Been years since the retreat was set up, and many booking sites say wifi is available but that is only the case in the two buildings at reception, not the rooms.

B) cottages suffer from being plagued with millipede infestation that sees these creepies come into your cottage. When we reported it to reception, all they said was that it happens during the rains and that she’d report it to the manager. We found these critters in most parts of our cottage. We bumped into a couple who checked out early and cancelled the rest of their stay because they could not bear the unwelcome anthropod guests in their cottage. Management should seriously do something about this problem here.

C) the only restaurant in the retreat serves the same set dinner menu daily, so variety is limited and food is also a tad pricey. The restaurant is a bit hyped up, given the lack of decent dining choices in the Swansea area. So many visitors turn up here for meals, even when they don’t stay at the resort, making dinner bookings necessary, even for resort guests;

D) the shower/bath area is woeful. Standing tub in the corner of the bedroom that has no doors or curtains. The toilet is separate from the bath and is very small and basic. Kitchen supplies provided are basic too.

For what you pay for and get, I won’t recommend it at all. Better value if you stayed somewhere cheaper, as compared to staying here, expecting high-end retreat quality (based on price point) and getting disappointed after you arrive and see the true state of affairs of their rustic charm”.

We drove straight from Hobart airport to arrive at this Retreat and were not disappointed as the accommodation was excellent. We stayed at No. 19 which was a spa suite and overlooked Coles Bay. The only minor niggle was the decking outside needed some attention. Our accommodation was about 5 minutes walk from the main building, which wasn't a problem, but might be if the weather was bad. The breakfast menu provided was limited but enjoyable. The staff were friendly. This was just a one-nighter to get over our flight from the UK and was a nice welcome to Tasmania. The room also faces East so you get the sun rise.

Room Tip: Request a bay view.
