The food is Mexican. It's Tex-Mex. They will put onions and stuff on like a real Mexican restaurant. My wife ordered the Pork Carnitas and the meat tasted like it was old or freezer burned....inedible. But the rest of the dinner and my plate was delicious. It's a little bit expensive, though.

The combination of the atmosphere and the food and the waitstaff makes this a good spot to dine. Fajitas were outstanding. Chips to die for. Ambiance authentic.

Buen dia Amigos!!!! When people say "Mexican Food Restaurant" they more than likely mean "Tex Mex". News Flash: Chimicangas are not Mexican Food; they are Tex Mex. Now you know. So, my review is from a "Mexican Food" standpoint, not Tex Mex.

Just let me say that refried beans served in Tex Mex restaurants are .... U-G-L-Y ... no can do, you can keep it all. Mexican refried beans: Delicious. So here we go with my observations from a Latino standpoint who is familiar with Latino food, Mexican food, South American food, Central American food, and Caribbean food ... all these have unique characteristics.

Los Cabos at Owasso has some innovative dishes that represent Mexican ingenuity in their culinary culture:

1. Tamales, pork. This pork tamal at Los Cabos is simply outstanding. There is really no need for cheese on top of it. As a matter of fact, I order it without it because it stands very well on its own by the doe's seasoning and the pork seasoning [ it is pulled pork, the real pork tamal from Mexico down to Central America is pulled pork or Pork Rib]. The Pork Tamales at this location are simply outstanding; the flavor is identifiable and true to what the doe should be and the level of seasoning should be. Bravo Los Cabos!!!! Well done.

2. Cebiche. This is made of shrimp, tilapia, scallop all together in its raw state and it is cooked by lemon/lime juice. It is soaked in the juice and the acidity cooks it - not in 10 minutes. It is served with avocado, and also has spice. This is a very difficult dish to prepare as far as the right proportions of flavor to give it the balanced tartness. I highly recommend it. I applaud Los Cabos for daring to serve Cebiche. The best Cebiche in the world is how Peruvians prepare it. Los Cabos Cebiche is not near it; however, Los Cabos Cebiche is acceptable ... and in the context of seafood preparation and service that is a really good complement. Los Cabos' recipe does not try to copy any other, and that makes it much better as seafood is a very unique type of food. This Cebiche is not sushi nor anything like it. It is served cold, the right way, with crackers. I recommend it.
3. Chorizo Chicken: Really different. Very difficult to come with a daring spicy mixture giving a chorizo flavor. This is Mexican type of chorizo inside breaded chicken breasts. For those who like chilli type seasoning with the touch of breaded chicken, Los Cabos does well in the attempt. I enjoyed the taste of it.
4. Service: Outstanding!!!!! If you come grouchy, it will be just another restaurant. However, if you show curiosity rather than criticism, you will have a waitress or waiter happy to accommodate you. To Los Cabos: I would aggressively pursue even more training in service in the "happy cheerful" category. Mexicans love cheer, music, and social interaction around a served table. Los Cabos has a winning potential to attract just on the service alone. Keep the old Mexican music, not rap nor daddy yankee type of music. Play the boleros, mariachis, salsa ... the tips will increase.

For the traveler: This is not a place for fast eating. The service is fast, but the dishes mentioned here are to be enjoyed at a pace and not a rush. Stop at Los Cabos in Owasso, OK ... you will enjoy it even more if you order what is not "typical tex mex". Venture into the dishes that are unique to the location and you will not be disappointed. The price: Comparable with other restaurants.

Hasta luego amigos :-)

Stopped in for a snack and cocktail. They brought out the obligatory chips and salsa. Two different types. Man, that special salsa came out warm and had a beefy taste to it. Excellent! We ordered more with our appetizer.
Ordered the sampler plate. Every thing was really tasty.

My hotel was close, so I read the reviews. They seemed pretty bad so I nearly didn't go. I'm glad I did though. The service was good. They have a warm, roasted salsa and a cool tomato-based salsa. Both were good and contrasted with each other well. I had the "Tres Amigos," which is a beef enchilada, cheese enchilada, and fajita chicken enchilada along with Mexican rice and borracho beans. It was good all around...nothing terribly unique, but solid Tex-Mex. Each had it's own sauce/topping that complimented well. The borracho beans are quite good with so many stew-like ingredients that it could almost be an appetizer by itself. I'd go there again,
