Trail of Tears exhibit is a must see. Nice presentation on treaties, life before treaties breaking, land/property theft, and the relocation of several native american tribes. The losses; beginning new settlements. There's also an art gallery, gift shop, picnic grounds.
Only way to see the village is on a guided tour. We didn't have the time to wait for the next one, Otherwise, I would give it a higher rating.

This is a must see ! My husbands family is Cherokee and we enjoyed everything this place has to offer. The history is well represented and there is so much to learn. The Trail of Tears exhibit is very informative. We have small children and they really enjoyed the village from the 1800's. We will visit again!

Fun place to visit and learn about the history of the Cherokee Native Americans. If you go, you MUST do the Cherokee village tour. Very interesting

We went to the Cherokee Heritage Center and it was very interesting. We bought a passport that includes admission to 5 places of interest. The walking tour was very fascinating. They tell you about how life was for the Cherokees. You got to see a game that was played and someone making tools. It was very interesting. The museum was also interesting. The works of art were beautiful and so were the figures. You must see this museum if you are interested in the Cherokee.

The history of the US government and the American Indians is a sad one and very well presented here. We stared with a walk through the exhibit Trail of Tears, offering a good education and basic understanding of Cherokee history. Then for some history from the early 1700's into the late 1800's: we went to the Diligwa Village, on the grounds, a living history village and then to Adam's Corner Rural Village. The Diligwa Village was by guided tour with a tribe member. He was informative and knowledgeable. In various places in the village there were actual demonstrations of traditional crafts and skills, such as flint knapping and local games and competitions. This is an opportunity to learn not only the Cherokee history but also about their current tribal lives and future goals. You need a couple of hours to visit without rushing, and more if you want to visit their other related sites.
