Description: Best place for Breakfast and Lunch!!This Highly recommended Cafe & Bakery has been voted Bend's Best Breakfast & Lunch! We guarantee that you will never leave hungry! Our scrumptious biscuits and gravy or the always satisfying hobo scramble are very popular with our customers. We have an experienced and friendly staff, our menu is extensive and the pastry is superb!! Come in to our cafe for full service breakfast or lunch and see what all the buzz is about!

Though we look back on memorable breakfasts a few years ago at the Westside Cafe, our recent visit there was a huge disappointment. We were so looking forward to their unique French Toast based on house-made cinnamon bread, but the dish we had this time was totally forgettable. What used to be a decadent treat with a gooey, unmistakably spicy cinnamon swirl in the center has become a boring, dry pile of fried bread with a bare hint of cinnamon. No amount of syrup is going to make up the difference... Even though our waiter kept the coffee coming and was cheerful and friendly, we couldn't help feeling that this restaurant has changed a lot, and not for the better.

We recently enjoyed a lovely Sunday breakfast here - the whole neighborhood is cute and un-touristy, and the staff is attentive. We were surprised that the coffee was good, too. Hearty, American-style breakfasts with many options. The vibe, kitschy decor (including life-sized Elvis and Big Bird), plus thomas the train rolling around the ceiling track, make this a great place for families -lots of kids there on weekends.

We tried to get into Chow but the line was too long so we came in here. The wait was about 15 minutes and we were seated. It was getting late on Sunday morning so 3 of us ordered lunch and one ordered breakfast. We waited 30 minutes for our meals to arrive and there were many empty tables around. I don't know what was going on in the kitchen that morning. I had the chicken burger which was fine but not the way it was described on the menu. Everyone was satisfied with their meals but not overjoyed.

As my family departed Bend, OR heading home to Seattle, we decided to stop and have breakfast before we got on the road. One of my daughters suggested the WestSide Cafe, sine we had no knowledge of where to stop, this was fine. It was one of those lucky finds. WestSide had great food, accomodated our 4 grandchildren and provided satisfying breakfasts for the adults. I had a Denver omlet, my wife had Huevos Rancheros which she loved, and others had eggs, pancakes and benedicts.

The service was great, the food was excellent, which made it a worthwhile stop for us. We did not try any of the lovely looking pastries; hopefully we will have that opportunity down the road.

This has always been our favorite place for breakfast. We've been enjoying our experience here for years. When we arrived this last time we barely could find a place to park, only a few designated places out front on the street. They had downsized and now their building is split in two and they share it with another establishment. Just walking in the front door the atmosphere seemed to have changed, starting with reception and then having to wait for a cup of their Hazelnut coffee to arrive.Their friendly & speedy service was something they excelled at before. They used to make sure you always had refills & the staff was always attentive, which was lacking considerably this day. Not many people were there that morning, only one server. We usually order their omelets, which have always been mouthwatering & the main reason we come. This time the food was just okay, even toast was cut back and the price had gone up. We had to ask for a coffee refill & even that was a wait. They were in the process of re-modeling the room next door where it appeared there were a few bigger tables and open windows. There was a table of 8 people eating and the noise was distracting. We were saddened by the changes, the ambiance was gone. Hoping it might be just a off day for them. We might be back, but we'll be all the wiser next time.
