We traveled from Italy to see the Oregon Coast and in our travel guide found Dee-Ann's Tea Room Cafe, so we tried it for breakfast. One of the owners (Dee) even served us herself. She was extremely friendly, happy to answer questions, and very warm and welcoming. But how about the food? Everything is homemade right in the restaurant. We had some homemade biscuits (which were amazing!!!) and a homemade Belgian waffle, the recipe is Dee's mother's recipe if I remember correctly. The waffle was great too! Seriously would recommend this place for a nice breakfast if you're traveling through Brookings. I hear that lunch there is great as well, by the way!!

We went for breakast. One egg and sausage w/country fries and a biscuit ($8.50) and a bowl of oatmeal w/toast ($6.00), and coffee ($1.50 each).

As we waited for our meal we could see the kitcken staff at work. It appeared that nearly everything took a turn in the microwave - incuding the bisciuts.

After our order was delivered, we couldn't get the attention of our waitress. Finally she came by with a coffee refill. We asked for some jelly. She said, "Sure," but she never brought any. Eventually, another waitress came by to top off our coffee. We asked for jelly again. Same thing. A lady from another table overheard our request for jelly and gave us her basket of jelly packets. That was nice, but there was only one packet of strawberry. So, after a while, when another waitress was cleaning up a spill at the next table (which our waitress had noticed, but did not help the couple clean up - or even bring new napkins - although she had waited on them earlier), she noticed us and asked if we needed anything. We asked her if they had any other jelly flavors (we only had grape and apple butter). She said they had orange marmalade and strawberry. We agreed that sounded good. She brought a containter with two jelly canisters (with spoons that fit in the lids). This jelly was old...the top layer was rubbery and wouldn't stir in. We decided we didn't want any jelly, afterall.

The ovens are in another building across the parking lot from the restaurant. We saw a woman carry a large metal bowl with what looked like bisciut dough across the parking lot, and soon she starting carrying pies across the parking lot to the restaurant. When we entered the restauraunt there were two large measuring bowls, of what looked like pancake batter, sitting on the counter next to the register. When we were almost finished with our meal, the lady took those across the parking lot.

Monday mornings seniors receive a 10% discount - or so the sign says. When we asked for the discount, our waitress said it was already calculated in. Our total bill was $17.50 (look at the beginning of this review...there was no discount).

We won't be back.

We arrived just before closing. No problem. We were greeted, seated, and served. The food, everything made from scratch, was wonderful. The owner came over and we had a nice discussion about the local area, the people, even the ranch we were about to visit. The walls were decorated with 1400 teapots. Quite a collection. This is a wonderful little place to visit.

I love the Home made pies, their quiche is always great. I eat here about 3 times a month. They close a 2 pm but the average age of customer is 68 so if you can handle that you will enjoy some good food. Very friendly and quaint - filled with teapots. Ask Dee about the teapot van.

Dee-Ann's Tea Room is by far the best food in the area. For those reviewers who were not pleased that is not the norm. All foods are prepared daily fresh and homemade recipes. Dee (the manager) and Barbara (the owner) attempt to add a variety of daily lunch specials that everyone will love. Dee makes all the pies, fresh cinnamon buns, fresh sticky buns (Thursdays), and all the tuna, egg and chicken salad. The soups are made daily as is the chili. Barb makes the absolute best hot Mac and cheese and enchilada casseroles. Dee makes the meat loaf and stuffed bell peppers and daily strawberry waffles and strawberry shortcake. Prices as comparable with all the restaurants in town. Some local restaurants may be priced lower but they have a bar to fall back on to pay their bills. Dee-Ann's Tea Room is under new ownership as of November 1, 2015. Check their facebook page for a sample menu.
