This is a great beach for just about everything... a nice leisurely walk, building sand castles, looking in tide pools, bonfire and just about anything else you can think of.

My wife and I have walked this beach multiple times recently. It's a beautiful place off of the Cape Arago Highway. The beach is maybe a mile long with a freshwater stream cutting it in half when the water is running. Even when it is running it's easily waded.

The beach is VERY clean. There is amazingly little litter there, and it is hardly ever crowded. The other evening, around dusk, my wife and I walked the entire beach and saw about half a dozen people. We are also the type who like to pick up trash when we see it and we came home with empty pockets.

The water is beautiful, you get to see fishing boats from Charleston Harbor coming and going as well as shipping from Coos Bay. The waves start breaking pretty far offshore and roll all the way to the beach. It's quite picturesque.

The beach is bounded on the north by the breakwater entry into Coos Bay and to the south by Yoakem Point (a state park). From most of the beach you can see Cape Arago Lighthouse on Gregory Point to the south, and it's beautiful on a sunny day.

If there's down side it's that this beach is almost always WINDY. I can't imagine getting in the water without a wet suit and enjoying it.

If you are looking for beautiful scenery and a nice beach walk, this is it!

-1 star for all the wind.

A wild and direct face off between land and ocean. The world is majority ocean and wins. Here the battleground is different a long sandy beach face to face with the King of water, Pacific, the waves are always big, so if you love water where a wet suit and play, watch out for sneaker waves, they can knock you over and be hurtful. Lots of bull kelp and logs as big as containers get washed up and disappear when next storm passes through....

Cove is a really quiet beach the times I've visited. Great for walking the dogs and exploring tidepools.

We stayed here with 4 other RV rigs for 4 nights. It's kind of out of the way, but has water and electric and 2 RV dump stations. The sites are large and very private. An older campground, but has lots of charm and flush toilets and showers! The forest there is very deep, very green, lots of ferns. We had to use lights during the day. Moss grows everywhere. Bastendorff beach is just down the road, nice place to walk dogs or just bring a chair and watch the boats go in and out of the harbor.
