The studio itself was renovated a year or so ago. Pleasant and nicely decorated with all you need for cooking and cleaning. The bed is on the firmer side which was great for us. Unfortunately, a few things prevent us from giving five stars at this time. 1) We called the owner to confirm that our 6pm check in would be ok. 3 hours later and still no response. So we just drove over there. We could see that the guest rentals were attached to a main home so we knocked there. Leslie's mom, Janet, was there and took us to our room because owners were out of town. Janet was very nice and helpful answering our questions. * Suggest providing another point of contact that can actually be reached and will respond in case things are not going as planned. 2 ) There is only one window in the place so no possibility for a cross breeze so we were warm. A fan was provided but just wasn't enough. Nothing to be done there I suppose except we would not book again in August. 3) Ants ! Only a few ants but they were there and we had not even cooked our meal yet. So after our meal, we made sure to empty all the trash so there were no food smells that would attract any more ants and did the dishes immediately. 4 ) A minor annoyance but it was not until I went to reach for a towel after my shower that I realized I would have to use the damp towel my husband left after taking his shower or drip through the hall to find a dry towel in the closet. 2 guests should have 2 bath towels ready please. 5) We feel that the $50 cleaning fee is too much for a nights stay based on the size of the unit. Most of these items are easily resolved. Hopefully, our experience was just a fluke.
What a wonderful serene retreat! My son and i stayed here during the Olympic Track 7 Field Trials! Leslie met us when we arrived exhausted after a full day of travel and checked in with us throughout the stay to see if we needed anything. The studio has everything needed to dine in or out. We traveled by a rented bike on the many bike trails throughout Eugene. We were able to access a beautiful trail right at the end of street we stayed on. The area is residential and beautiful. If we get the chance to return to Eugene, this would be my first choice rather than a hotel.
