Pleasant staff fun ride great hiking trails. Your get a great view of the Eagle Cap Wilderness peaks, the Snake and Imnaha river canyons, and the Wallowa valley.
We went in September and there was Snow at the top so we will return in the summer to take the small trails with views. We tried to walk one trail in the snow but not really equipped for it so will return.
The cost almost stopped us for doing it, as It cost $30 for seniors round trip. there was a nice restaurant at the top but everyone was drinking coffee and they also served beer but too cold for that.
The Tram was great. Felt safe the entire time. I asked about weight balance in the gondola but was told they have towers every so often to avoid weight balance. both my wife and I sat facing down on the same side as we were told thats the best view.
The gondolas have plexiglass so you have great views but some were scratched. Some had a sliding window to open if you wanted as we did even though it was cold out, just to get a greater picture.
The Tram takes 15 minutes to go up and 15 to go down it was much longer than thought. It was well worth the price.
Wear coat/hoody, Can be windy and cool at 8000 ft. Reasonably priced grill and brew at the top.Trails are easy and there are some areas that need to be climbed.
Rode the tramway to Mt Howard and walked the nature trails at the top. Fantastic views of the Wallowas and also out onto the plains. Very windy and cold though, so take a jacket! If you are a hiker, you can hike the ridgeline from Mt Howard south into the Wallowas, but make sure you are adequately equipped as it is a long rugged hike.
Great tram. We have been on others, but this one had to have the longest vertical we've experienced. Fortunately, the forest fire smoke had cleared and the views are awe inspiring. The couple mile trail loop at the top was just right for spending a couple hours at the top. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but it was full of tourists, even though we were there well after Labor Day.
The admission was spendy, but my father assured me it was worth it and he was right! The tram goes much higher than I expected and the views of the lake and surrounding area were beautiful. Once at the top, we ate lunch at the Summit Grill. They were busy and short staffed, but we didn't have any issue waiting since we were sitting outside with a great view. The food was very tasty and the service was friendly. After lunch we did some hiking. The paths were well maintained. One bonus is the cost of admission is good for the entire day so you could go back later on and do more hiking if you wanted to.
