We have stayed at a few other places in wine country in years past when we visit Oregon, but the Allison is the nicest by far. As far as I have found, it is the only five star place...lovely arrival, wonderful room with views, great spa, good food and drinks. The best rooms are on the main level as you enter as you get the best views from that high up: the back of the hotel is at a much lower altitude. Perhaps the only small drawback is that so many of the staff are quite young, so there's a certain happy-go-lucky informality that is anomalous with such a lovely place where efficiency is expected and paid for, not slapdashey...case in point--we checked in at the appointed time of 4p, room wasn't ready, bags were held, we got the room, were told bags would be along, but no bags appeared. We had to call for them after waiting 20 min, and when brought around it was all laughter and giggles by the bellcap: obviously something broke down between reception desk and bellcap but we didn't find it humorous. That said, the grounds have lovely statuary and metalwork "creatures" so be sure to take a walk. The dinner was lovely too outside on the terrace--great service and good attention to our family's admittedly odd dietary needs (one vegan and one celiac). Everyone is very eager to please here.

Room tip: main floor where reception desk is for the best views.

The hotel is relatively new and well maintained. There are enjoyable gardens which make up the property. The restaurant is fine but not extraordinary. There is a pool and places to sit and relax. This is in the middle of wine country. If that is what you are there for, that is for tastings, consider this property. If it is for a complete resort you may find it lacking given the price.

The Allison is exceptional. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, the grounds were wonderful to look at and walk through and our dining experiences were memorable. We had a wonderful time and plan to return.

The Allison Inn & Spa, in Newberg, OR, is a model of absolute perfection! The Inn, itself, is beautifully decorated, the grounds are magnificent and immaculately maintained, the bedroom, bathroom and sitting area are very large and comfortable, everyone on the staff of the Inn is gracious, welcoming and helpful, the food in their restaurant (JORY) is excellent, the bar and the lounge are fun places. We didn't use the spa facility or the pool, but I'm sure they are both wonderful based on the rest of the Inn. Truly top drawer!

We loved everything about our stay at The Allison, especially the staff (and I mean literally everyone working at The Allison). The grounds and facilities are immaculate --- everything was pristine. We like to stay at luxury hotels but are often disappointed with the experience and frequent shortfalls in multiple areas. We've stayed at other luxury hotels in Napa and Sonoma, including Auberge du Soleil. The Allison surpasses all of them. We can't wait to go back to visit more Willamette wineries and stay at The Allison again.
