We have stayed at a few other places in wine country in years past when we visit Oregon, but the Allison is the nicest by far. As far as I have found, it is the only five star place...lovely arrival, wonderful room with views, great spa, good food and drinks. The best rooms are on the main level as you enter as you get the best views from that high up: the back of the hotel is at a much lower altitude. Perhaps the only small drawback is that so many of the staff are quite young, so there's a certain happy-go-lucky informality that is anomalous with such a lovely place where efficiency is expected and paid for, not slapdashey...case in point--we checked in at the appointed time of 4p, room wasn't ready, bags were held, we got the room, were told bags would be along, but no bags appeared. We had to call for them after waiting 20 min, and when brought around it was all laughter and giggles by the bellcap: obviously something broke down between reception desk and bellcap but we didn't find it humorous. That said, the grounds have lovely statuary and metalwork "creatures" so be sure to take a walk. The dinner was lovely too outside on the terrace--great service and good attention to our family's admittedly odd dietary needs (one vegan and one celiac). Everyone is very eager to please here.
