This review can be summarized in 4 words, "We Loved it here" the end....
...but for those wanting more details the full review follows.

At check in we were greeted by the very friendly, and good humored, Juli (with an 'i'). The rest of the staff at the counter, including the General Manager, were equally as pleasant and helpful.

The room itself was very spacious and included a fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker-all of which worked fine- and there was even a DVD player (there was a large selection of DVD's to choose from in the lobby, but we didn't use them and I don't know if there was a charge to rent them).

One of the highlights for us though was the large balcony overlooking the ocean. It was a real treat to sit there and listen to the sounds of the ocean and watch the waves come in. When we went for a walk on the beach (the walkway down to the sand is a paved path a few hundred feet north of the hotel), we noticed that several of the other hotels along the beach didn't have balconies and, in at least one case, only a small window to open!

For those not wanting a dip in the ocean, which was really cold, you can still satisy your swim fix with a dip in the indoor, salt water swimming pool.

Another bonus for setting a relaxing mood in the room was the gas fireplace.

As for room tips, I believe every room faces the ocean side of the building, so there is no road noise, and the walls seem quite sound proof as we did not hear any noises from other guests.

Room Tip: I believe every room faces the ocean side of the building, so there is no road noise.

Great location but you cannot book into your room until 4pm, Our bed was not made once while we stayed on our 3 day visit to Newport and they had made a mistake on our booking and only had us booked for 2 nights when we were staying 3 nights.
The bedroom was fine with great view of the sea, they just need to give a little more attention to their customers needs.

Room Tip: top floor if possible

Recently, I traveled with a tour group and we stayed at this hotel for one night. I can honestly say I wish we could have stayed many more days. All hotel rooms had an ocean view which was really super. When we checked in, we got our keys right away and also were given fresh hot cookies. The front desk personnel were really nice and helpful. Our rooms were really comfortable. We even had a fireplace if we had wanted to use it! Great breakfast. I'd definitely stay here again if I could, though it is a bit pricey. But no wonder!

We're delighted to read that your one night with us made such a great impression! As you said, all of our rooms have amazing ocean views, and nothing is better than watching the waves from the comfort of your own suite! Great service is our passion, and we are happy that you experienced prompt and helpful service upon check-in. We also love having the opportunity to serve breakfast to our valued guests! Should your travels bring you back to the area, stay with us again!

Clean, spacious room overlooking the beach. Simplistic hotel which was perfect for an overnight stay. Friendly and helpful staff greeted us as we arrived. Pointed us in the direction of Beach access which is just about a half block up the road. The Nye district is just north and in walking distance with tons of food options. Would stay again.

Yes, the view was wonderful! Our North facing king room was large and comfortable, but... for the high end price we paid, I expected a bit more. We only had one positive encounter with the hospitality staff - the very nice maintenance man who did all he could to find us a working coffee maker. He tried eight different machines, and we never did get one that worked! The rest of the staff was cold and uninterested. We stayed two nights and informed the front desk when we went out to explore Nye Beach, that the housekeepers could clean our room, but they never showed up! Not the end of the world, but it would have been nice! Nye Beach is a charming part of Newport and we will return, but we will stay someplace else.

While we're happy to hear that you were charmed by Nye Beach, we are upset to know that we failed to make a positive first impression. We apologize for any apparent lack of concern on the part of our staff, that is inexcusable. We want all of our guests to enjoy their stay and feel cared for during their time with us. We hope you will consider this an aberration and give us a second chance. We know we can provide an excellent experience.

We stayed 4 nights in a double queen room on the 4th floor next to the elevator. We were not bothered by noise. The room was a comfortable size, nicely decorated and updated, smelled nice and had a flat screen TV, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, hair dryer and a small refrigerator - all clean and ready to use. We are looking forward to coming back!

The view: you can't beat it. I especially liked that the balcony was clear glass instead of wood slats and the fact that you are not looking at a parking lot, then the beach. The balcony is incredibly private and so nice.

Comfort: Although the rooms do not have air conditioning, we were never too hot. We just left the sliding door open with screen closed (so no bugs) and the breeze was perfect in the evening. During the day when we were gone, we left the curtains shut and the slider open so there was still a nice breeze and the room wasn't hot when we got back. I was so concerned I'd get hot without air conditioning that we brought a fan but we never had to use it. The temperature in Newport ranged from the upper 60s to around 70 the last two days. Except for the last two days, there was a strong breeze. The beds and pillows are comfortable and we slept well. The two sinks have ample room for stuff and they are outside the room. The bathroom has a deep but narrow tub and a toilet.

Cleanliness: We had a few issues that were resolved quickly once we brought it to the staff's attention: the balcony glass and one of the balcony chairs were not clean upon check in. They quickly cleaned when asked. The carpet and floors were not vacuumed one of the days and they quickly did so when requested. So, in general housekeeping could be improved but it wasn't like the rooms were dirty and I'm pretty picky.

Service: As said above, the service was great. When we pointed something out, they took care of it. Everyone was helpful, friendly and accommodating. We asked for and received extra towels every day along with extra shampoo and coffee. One of the housekeeping staff even helped us in the pinch when our car battery died and jumped our car! Very much appreciated!!

Amenities: Warm cookies in the evening - nice! We didn't use the pool or hot tub so can't speak to that. The elevators were not as slow as I was expecting given other reviews and there is more than one way to enter the building. Parking was tight but fine. We parked underneath the building to avoid the wind. No salmon chowder in the summer so bummer for me! As others have commented, the breakfast room is small and the food selection is so-so. Since we just eat in our room, the size didn't impact us but if you want to eat there, get in early for seating. If you like bacon and eggs, you'll probably be happy. They also have fruit, waffles, biscuits and gravy and cereals - no potatoes. We didn't go there for the breakfast anyhow but it could be improved for an even better stay. They offer DVDs for rent at $4.50. I think they should be free but we didn't go to watch movies.

Getting down to the beach is a short walk away on either side of the hotel. You can take the stairs by the Shilo Inn to the left of the hotel or a sloping walk to the right. It's a ways down so if you have issues walking up/down slops/stairs, you might want to take a very short drive to Agate Beach and walk right out to the beach. Nye beach outside of the hotel is an expansive, wonderful beach and not packed with people. Agate beach is more like mini sand dunes - not great in high winds but an easy walk.

The hotel is just a short drive from Yaquina Head Lighthouse and surrounding park with cobble beach, tide pools and nature walks - a great place to spend a few hours. I also recommend visiting Oregon Coast Aquarium.

The hotel is close to shops in Nye - there's not a lot their but it's quaint and nice.

Room for improvement to make the stay even better: a shower head with spray options (the water pressure was okay but not great) and a hand-held shower option; hook for hand towels by the sink, housekeeping (already mentioned) and more breakfast options with more seating.

If you want a wonderfully relaxing stay with great views, walks along the beach without being packed in with people and options for sight seeing, this is the place for you!
