My wife and I visited Tyee again after going there for our anniversary four years ago. It was just as wonderful this last weekend. Doug and Dee are great hosts, and you simply can't beat Tyee's location right on Agate Beach next to Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Resource Area. The place is wonderfully decorated (especially if you're a fan of Northwest Native American art), the food's great, views of the ocean spectacular with a footpath down to Agate Beach, one of the prettiest along the Oregon Coast. We really needed a restful weekend away from kids and jobs and day-to-day life, and Tyee definitely provided it. It's a great launchpad for all Newport has to offer, a place to do everything and anything, or do nothing but relax and enjoy the sound of the ocean. P.S. Doug and Dee have an interesting story of how they came to own Tyee, it's worth asking about.

Room Tip: If you can get either the Yaquina or the Chinook room, the views are the best and the seating areas...

Right on the cliff edge, the views from any room are wonderful. The owners, Dee and Doug are very warm and easily make you feel welcomed. Fresh baked cookies every afternoon and breakfast that is cooked to please. Rooms are small but very, very clean and cosy. You just feel special there.

We stayed here for 3 nights for a long weekend away from our home near Seattle. This was by far the best B&B experience I've ever had. Dee and Doug are very hospitable hosts and we enjoyed getting to know them during our stay. Dee's breakfasts were delicious and we always looked forward to returning in the afternoon for her freshly baked cookies! The first morning, we were joined at the breakfast table by Dee and Doug, along with Doug's mother and step-father, who were visiting for the weekend as well. They are all really lovely people and we enjoyed their company and conversation.

We stayed in the Alsea room, which is a smaller room at the end of the hallway, but we found it very comfortable. There was a nice sitting area by the window where we played cards in the evening and a few times we turned on the fireplace, which quickly warms up the room. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. It was nice to be just a short walk from the beach, and the outdoor sitting area is a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine at sunset. The Yaquina Head lighthouse is also within walking distance (about 2 mi.) and you can avoid the fee by not bringing your car.

We are looking forward to staying at Tyee Lodge again soon and would highly recommend it to anyone staying on the Oregon Coast.

Dee is a new innkeeper but from the moment you meet her, you can see her passion for caring for her guests. She is cheerful and friendly. The inn offers a nice common area with complimentary refreshments and homemade cookies. The rooms are very small - at least the Alsea - so be prepared for that. But the bed is comfortable, gas fireplace soothing, chairs cozy and the views are wonderful of the beach and ocean. Access to the beach is steep but well worth it. We hiked over 10 miles the day we were there and Newport has so much to offer from the beach, to wetland trails, to cute neighborhoods and a lively downtown and waterfront. Nana's was fun for after dinner music! The weekend was a relaxing get-a-way!

Room Tip: Pick one of the larger suites if you like more space!

We recently found Tyee Lodge in route to Portland as we drove up the coast from LA! We called ahead & spoke to Dee who welcomed us & gave us our choice of rooms. We were the only ones there that night & choose the Chinook room with the comfy chairs & the gas fireplace, which was AMAZING! Imagine waking up in a tree house & that is the image we will always remember when the storm passed the following morning. The breakfast was wonderful & filling. Dee gave a wonderful recommendation for dinner which was a local restaurant & had great food. This is a great B&B that we would stay at again.

Room Tip: Corner room with wonderful views of the Pacific Ocean.

In December, the ocean staggers in eight breaking sets of furious waves pounding on the rugged sand beach extending beyond and below cavorting trees bent in sublimation to a pounding wind and driven fumerals of rain spray. As you engage vicariously in the tumult outside your room's panoramic window, hyperboles trudge through your mind like the ridges in a peanut butter cookie, heck you know this ain't great literature but the wine glass and cookies in your hand, and the warmth from the hearth in your room, do a pretty good number calming the critical circuits in your brain. I know at times like these, i probably shouldn't try to write a travel review. Ah, but the wine is close at hand and the welcome of the room and your hosts, and did I mention wine, just seem to make this a perfect place to be. And I got here three days ago and have barely moved. Guys, this is better than watching a frozen football game from your living room. Ladies, well, I never presume to know exactly what you may think, but this inn is charming, romantic, and even if are a a guy, you feel pampered in a way that does,t make your skin crawl.
Others accurately described the rooms and setting -all wonderful- but I've gone for the experience. My cookie is gone and my glass is empty and I plan to search for another (s).

Room Tip: Yaquina or chinook best among the best!

We recently stayed at the Tyee lodge and loved it! Each room had it's own gas fire place which was totally romantic. I loved the nice sized closet in our room, the Tillamook. Plus the new mattress was really comfy. We had awesome Belgium waffles for breakfast and afterwords had a nice trek out to the light house and pebble beach. But the best part was waking up to the breath taking view of the ocean from our bed, an amazing view!
