The room was nice and comfortable. The only problem was the top blanket which had yucky stains on. The front desk gal was super nice and switched out blankets right away. I recommend this hotel.
There are many lodging facilities in Newport, Oregon, with views of the ocean. The Days Inn only has one window overlooking the parking lot and the Coast Hwy 101, away from the ocean. No other windows! Continental breakfast very limited. Housekeeping didn't replace coffee supplies or cups.
We stayed in Newport because our daughter was moving into a dorm there to go to college, and we wanted to be there to help her get settled. Because of this, we needed a spot with 2 queen beds, which, in a tourist town like Newport can get VERY expensive. We chose Days Inn for the price, and when we first drove up, I'll admit we were a bit nervous. All the rooms face out onto the parking lot, like a motel, rather than having internal hallways, and the lobby is miniscule (so small that the continental breakfast is "take to your room to eat" rather than having even a single table in the lobby).
However, that being said - the room was great - clean, nice, updated... the staff was super friendly and helpful, and everything worked perfectly. The bed was super comfortable, the bedding was newer, the water pressure in the shower was great (even in the upstairs rooms), and while it definitely wasn't a 5 star hotel, it was WAY better than we expected for the price. As long as you don't mind exiting your room directly to the outdoors, it's a great budget option for Newport.
The only downside we had at all was that there is no way to cool the room - but considering it was the Oregon Coast in September, we just opened the windows at night to let in fresh air, and that worked great. I am not sure I would have been as pleased if we'd been staying a month ago, when it was super-hot (for Oregon).
