Quaint little shopping area. Wine tastings, book stores, a tea shop, clothing boutiques, eateries, galleries. Just a fun place to wander.

Nice long beach with easy access, small crowds and a funky little neighborhood with some good restaurant choices. April's is an especially good choice for fine dining. Recommend

Located along Coast Street, Nye Beach is part of Newport, but in many ways, it seems like a separate little "village". The boundaries may be a bit hazy, but I think both visitors and locals alike would agree the area has its' own quirky sort of personality ;-)

I'm a local, and my husband and I patronize several Nye Beach businesses on a regular basis. There are a number of eateries here which run the gamut from Nana's Irish Pub to April's upscale dining to the hippie-ish Cafe Mundo to one of the "sweetest" shops in town - Nye Beach Sweets.

There are lots of shops here too, all individualistic and unique. I have found just about anything here including art, sculptures, clothing, wine, and a myriad of handcrafted goods. It's one of my favourite places to go Christmas shopping!

Nye Beach offers an assortment of lodging as well. Whether your tastes run to funky beach cottages, brand new "sustainable" hotels, B&Bs, or the venerable old 1913 Silvia Beach Hotel ... you will find lodging to please here!

Nye Beach is a great area to stroll. In fact, it's best if you do park and walk as the streets are narrow and can be congested. I like to park in the Nye Beach Turnaround, since there is usually room here. It's free, of course, and from the parking lot it's only a few hundred feet to walk down to the beach and ocean. Seagulls love to perch on the posts along the edge of the lot. There are public restrooms here.

Don't miss the big arch that says "Nye Beach" - it spans Beach Drive and you drive under it to get to the Turnaround.

Don Davis Memorial Park is a pleasant place to relax and watch the ocean, and is an easy walk from the heart of Nye Beach. For kids, there is even a skatepark in Nye Beach. The beautiful Yaquina Head lighthouse to the north is visible from the beach.

If you are looking for a slower paced, kind of funky, pedestrian friendly neighbourhood, together with a great beach, Nye Beach may be just what you're looking for :-)
