Waldo Lake is the perfect family camping vacation.
There are three campgrounds and all are wonderful. Currently the water lines are being repaired so do take your own water. There is water available at the host campsite.
Campsites are great for tent or RV camping. Some of views of the lake. I stayed two nights a shore campground and one night at Islet campground. I prefer Islet for no particular reason.
The hiking trails are some of the best for families with children of all ages. The trail around the lake is 21 miles. Plenty of short hikes to accommodate all hiking skill levels. Several swimming beaches for those brave enough to enter the mountain lake.
Certainly cameras are a must as Waldo Lake is breath taking and one of the clearest lakes I have ever experienced.
I had planned to camp for two nights but ended up staying longer. Campsites can be reserved online. I was camping mid-week and all three campgrounds were virtually empty. I was told weekends it is a crowded.
If your visiting Oregon move Waldo Lake to the top of your "to visit" list. You won't be sorry.
Campsite Fees are $22 per site. 1/2 price while the water situation is being addressed.
