Standard-sized rooms are amonth the largest I've ever had for an inner-city hotel. High ceilings, massive pocket doors between sleeping and living area, and the funky decor that's a hallmark trait of Hotel Monaco properties. Friendly staff. good central location would have me stay here again in spite of my very strong Marriott loyalty connection. Would like to see a printer in the lobby for boarding passes (have to go to the front desk although there are 2 compuiters for online check-in), lobby area was overflowing w people at "Happy Hour" time with the free wine and beer. But this hotel hits ti otherwise.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. It is much appreciated. Thanks also for your suggestion of a printer in the lobby for printing boarding passes so you don't have to go to the front desk to get them. Great idea, we are going to do it.

We look forward to your next visit.

Great hotel that lived up to and then exceeded our expectations. The entire staff at the Monaco made me and my husband feel so welcomed this week that we will stay here next time we are in Portland. Great ambiance, amenities (and the Labrador concierge is pretty cute too).

Loved our stay at the Monaco. Like all the Kimpton hotels, its boutique quality makes it feel less institutional and more homey. The recent renovations have given the whole place a fresh and funky feel; we loved the decor. It's not for everyone - the birds on the wallpaper, the orange and purple carpets and toss pillows and duck footed lamps - are eclectic, and may surprise some guests looking for a "restful" ambiance.

The staff are super friendly and helpful - from the doormen to the car jockeys to the front desk to the cleaning personnel - and all go out of their way to make your experience a welcome one. Other things to love? The daily happy hour in the lounge, the comings and goings of guests with their dogs (yes, it's pet friendly) and the central downtown location. Easy walking to tons of amazing restaurants and the Pearl District.

We'll be back... loved it! (heads up... the only thing we didn't love was the $35 per night parking charge... just so's you know).

If you like zebra- and leopard-print robes and a teddy bear on your bed, look no further. Hotel Monaco is a solid choice, with decently-sized rooms and great amenities. Their gym is really way above average for a hotel gym, for instance. And it has free bottled water! Keep that on the DL though.

The service was good at the hotel, as well. I didn't ask for anything concerning my room, but check-out and check-in were a breeze, as was storing my bags and getting cabs.

The bed was good, although the pillows weren't to my exact liking, but I think tastes in pillows is idiosyncratic. The bathroom was fine.

I went to the Red Star (the hotel's restaurant) four times for breakfast, too. It was a very solid option and I'd recommend it to anyone staying at the hotel. The service was good, too - by the third day the waiter knew the drink order for all five of us without having to be asked.

Where to begin about the amazing customer service and experience we had at Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco in Portland, OR. The spectacular hospitality started a week before we arrived with, Decoteau, the hotel’s amazingly attentive Concierge. Their team touched base with us the week before our arrival and confirmed the pillows type we preferred, if we need a yoga kit from the room (umm, yes please!), and any other requests we had. Decoteau assisted us with options and reservations at a plethora of delicious and sustainable dining establishments. On top of that, she also emailed us a laundry list of eco-fabulous shopping with links and descriptions on places we needed to visit before we even got to Portland. Icing on the cake was as we were driving down and my cold was kicking in, the spectacular Decoteau popped down to The Spice and Tea Exchange and picked up organic teas for me to sip on, again brilliant customer service.

After the quick three-hour drive south from Seattle we arrived in downtown Portland and at the beautiful Hotel Monaco. We pulled directly into their underground garage with valet, and more importantly out of the downpour of rain to unload Robi. Valet energetically told us that since we had a hybrid our parking rate was cut in half! What a spectacular reward for being green and way to start off the trip. The incredibly helpful Bellman helped us unload a ridiculous amount of luggage and escorted us to the lobby. Garrett, a courteous and friendly gentleman at the front desk helped us get acclimated and checked into our spacious room. The entire process was seamless, easy, comfortable and most importantly quick after a couple of hours in the car.

When the door to our room on the 8th floor opened I knew we were in for a real treat. The colors in the room were bright, modern, and splendidly combined into a posh space. We were in town for 5 days for the Living Future unConference and needed a room well laid out that would let us function, but still be cozy and not wasteful. The room was equipped with a spacious bathroom with a tub and shower, a living room, and a bedroom with a view. The bathroom is stocked with luxurious eco-friendly bath amenities and the towel reuse service and low-flow fixtures to reduce water. The bedroom and living room both had large TVs (his and hers) and the room was stocked with organic goodies and beverages. Here is a secret, if you aren’t a Kimpton InTouch Member, become one. Every time you stay at Kimpton as a member you get free Wi-Fi and $10 towards the minibar!

In the evenings the Kimpton hosts a very popular happy hour in their lobby and this particular property has a fabulous live piano player. Even when my cold went into full force the entire staff stepped it up s amazing. They offered to send up soup and tea and did an extra cleaning for me using their green cleaning products. Due to me being a bit under the weather we weren’t able to take advantage of the complimentary bike rentals the hotel offers guests to use to travel green through the City of Roses.

This hotel is ecofriendly, luxurious, cozy, fun, relaxing, and most of all, the staff is SPECTACULAR. We highly recommend this great property for being green and luxurious.

Thanks you so much for your recent review. Thanks also for your mention of Decoteau, our concierge, Robi our super star valet, and Garrett at the reception desk. I will pass your comments along as I am certain they will be very pleased. Sorry to hear that you were unable to take advantage of our complimentary bikes. Perhaps on your next visit.

We look forward to the very great pleasure of serving you again in the hopefully near future.
