Thank you to RJ the valet at the Hotel Monaco in PDX! You made our visit go smoothly, took great care of our vehicle, and made excellent recommendations. You took great care of us over a special weekend.

Hi Kaja,

RJ is fantastic! He provides these warm greetings and does a great job of setting up our guest for a wonderful stay. I can't thank him enough for what he does day in and day out. Thanks for giving RJ some TripAdvisor love!

Till next time,

The Kimpton is a downtown hotel located in the southwest section of Portland. It's close to Pioneer Square and a lot of the downtown activities including the Pearl District. The rooms are nicely appointed and some rooms have historical significance related to the founding of Portland. The staff are very nice and helpful. Each night there is a wine (and sometimes beer) tasting and there is live music from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Now to the wallpaper - It is very "quirky" with a cream colored background and lots (I mean lots) of birds in the design. Once your eyes adjust you can see they are in style with the hotel. I had a wonderful stay there and highly recommend it.

Thank you Larry! Happy to hear you enjoyed our location, the décor and service. Just a quick correction, we offer our evening hosted party from 5PM to 6PM. Live music 365 days a year and we always have beer on tap! Glad that you dug the birds. Each bird is native to Oregon. I'll give you a breakdown the next time you visit.

Cheers,

Ryan (GM)

You can tell that a lot of thought has been put into this property to provide the ultimate guest experience. We traveled with our dog, and were asked prior to the visit for her name. Lo and behold, there was a bottle of wine with some treats for the pooch and a nice card when we arrived. The Red Star restaurant served up a nice meal. We were delighted with our overnight stay. No pet fee was also a huge plus!

There was one area of concern that I addressed with manager Ryan Kunzer before writing this review. There is no place for dogs to use the restroom on site. We had stayed at another IHG property in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego and the Indigo had fake turf for dogs to use on one of the higher floors. I suggested to Ryan that something like this would be nice to have. We had to resort to going to a nearby park but walking in the dark and seeing the homeless on nearby streets was not our ideal choice. Plus, the weekend prior, there had been some violence on Portland's streets. Sometimes, it's nice to just stay in the property. That's why we went to Red Star and wanted something on site to let the dog use the restroom. Ryan indicated that something like this was previously at the property, but enough pawrents did not clean up after their pooch and left it to the staff to do. I suggested a sign to indicate to guests to clean up after their pets so as to continue providing this service. Ryan indicated that he was amenable to this idea, and would give it some consideration. And why not? Everything else that they do, from the glass of port for weary guests arriving late at night to the interior decor shows a lot of thought.

I appreciate your call last week to discuss the dog potty station. I called the SD Indigo and they provided me with the details of the artificial turf they purchased and installed. I have shared this info with our team and we are working out the details. Thanks for the great review!

See you soon,

From the minute we pulled our car up, all of the staff at this hotel were genuinely smiling, friendly and ready to set us up for a wonderful time in Portland. The hotel itself is beautiful, but really what made our stay so perfect was the people. Zach checked us in and was so welcoming and ready to recommend some great things to do in the area. Queen and the other ladies of the front desk were helpful with recommendations as well - everyone was genuinely helpful! The social hour is awesome with drinks and snacks! Just a nice little party in the evening before you take off for dinner or other events. I’m sure there are a lot of nice hotels in the area but I can’t imagine they are as fun and inviting as this place! A definite must-stay.

Here at the Monaco we love hosting a little party before everyone goes out and hits the town. I'm so happy that you had such a fun time, that's what hotel experiences should be like! I'll make sure Zach, our amazing Front Office Manager gets a chance to read your lovely comments.

See you soon,

This is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are large and very comfortable. We had adjoining rooms, perfect for hanging out with family. The staff is friendly and kind. We had fun checking out the food trucks which are close by. The social hour was really nice too, wine, beer and snacks with live music in the living room. It was the perfect splurge for my birthday!

Hi Sally,

Happy belated Bday! Thanks so much for spending it at the Monaco. Glad that you enjoyed all that space in our spacious suites, you can't find that kind of room in most downtown hotels. Good call on requesting the adjoining rooms, double the space and double the fun.

Till next time,

Ryan (GM)
