On our way home from a trip to CA, we spent the night in Portland. Hotel deLuxe was the perfect stopover- great location, walking distance to the Pearl District, comfortable room, nice staff, and a great bar with some very tasty happy hour snacks. The rooms and bathrooms are a bit on the small side, and it's a little bit cozy for two people with two bags. That said, the decor was great, the amenities are very nice, and they have the best honor bar/snack tray! We'd definitely stay here again when en route to visit family in CA.

Impeccably designed and appointed, Hotel deLuxe nails it in every sense of the term.
Each detail of the hotel's decor is spot on 1930's/40's Hollywood Regency glamour.
Relaxing in the living room of our king premier suite, I literally felt like I was in the year 1940. A large framed screen still of Jane Russel and Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes watched over our living room couch, as Humphrey Bogart and Mary Astor inspected the wooden namesake of The Maltese Falcon in a screen shot over our desk and bar. Even Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers gracefully danced along my key card.
The fixtures, doorknobs, bath hardware, crown molding, even the lights in both of our walk-in closets, mirrored perfectly the most aesthetically pleasing remnants of that time.
And what's even cooler is the museum of classic Hollywood print photography showcased throughout the hotel. Take a stroll and view dozens and dozens of prints of classic Hollywood, each floor with it's own theme (Hitchcock, The Rebels, The Immigrants, to name a few).
This place is truly, truly, something special.
The service was exceptional, genuine and warm.
Their restaurant Gracies, delicious while slightly expensive, is an outstandingly grand and beautiful addition to the hotel's lobby, while the cool, dark and mysterious Driftwood Room is an excellent spot to unwind with a drink during one's stay at this divine hotel.
Happy Hour at the deLuxe is reasonable and very long winded, from 2-6pm and 9pm - close, and many of the same appetizers and bites from Gracies are available, which meant we showed up three days straight.
Can it get any better?
Yes, it can.
Portland is an affordable city, and Hotel deLuxe is no stranger to things affordable.
At any rate splurge, this place is worth it.
We'll be back, and hopefully soon.

Room Tip: Upper floors, larger rooms are better, in either a king feature (junior suite) or king / queen suite...

Need pampering? Go here. We stayed 5 nights and loved it. The character (Hollywood oldies permeate the decor) of the place, the excellent, attentive staff, the clean and attractive rooms, and a wonderful dining room -- all this plus a good location for walking to Portland's various attractions. If you prefer big chain hotels, you might expect more spacious rooms. But I can't say enough good things about Hotel deLuxe.

Room Tip: I imagine all rooms are equally attractive; I saw only 304 and 804 which had same parking lot view...

This hotel was absolutely stunning. We requested a quiet corner suite and was instantly accommodated. The staff was friendly and informative, the front entrance staff knew me by name, and the service at Gracie's was impeccable.

The rooms are small but exquisite, with extremely comfortable beds and a beautiful bathroom. We had a view of the city and Mt. Tabor, which was really lovely, even from the 5th floor. Our room was quiet - we hardly heard anyone else. The hotel is also right next to the Max line, which is perfect for in-city travel. As long as the windows were kept closed, we didn't hear a thing from the outside.

All in all, this was a wonderful stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel, particularly for a romantic weekend getaway.

Room Tip: Request a corner suite. They will do all they can to accommodate. I believe our stay was quiet bec...

I was extremely impressed with the friendliness and helpful nature of the entire staff at the hotel. In addition, the rooms were clean very comfortable. I most appreciated the location. It was very close to the MAX light rail and within walking distance to several excellent restaurants and shopping.

Hotel is 2 blocks from Max light rail, which gets you from the airport to downtown in 45 minutes for $2.50. Front desk and lobby staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Decor in lobby and rooms is attractive. Our standard room was clean, but on the small side, and finding places to put 2 people's luggage was a problem--the only negative. The hotel location is convenient to downtown Portland. Hotel restaurant and bar aren't bad, and there are many good places to eat nearby.
