This arboretum features a wide variety of trees and shrubs, most with labels for those of you that want to refresh your plant identification skills. The hilltop location features some pretty incredible views of downtown Portland and the surrounding mountains - as the weather permits. The hilltop location will also provide you with plenty of exercise, but these hills and dales also provide the variety of microclimates that allows this arboretum to feature such a wide variety of plant material. Don't neglect to visit the gift shop which has a good selection of shirts, hats, maps, and plant identification books, and well as a docent that has a great deal of knowledge about plants and the history of the arboretum. A great place to visit if you love plants and able to walk up some pretty steep trails.

Above the zoo there are some amazing trails to hike around with many different levels of difficulty and distance. Beautiful forest ., great for bird watching. Great even on a rainy day as trees make a nice canopy, no umbrella necessary

Trees as far as the eye can see. Many labelled telling the type. Multiple trails can lead you to see specific genus like maple, fir etc. Some trails are paved, others are gravel or dust/sand and can vary from being in the deep forest to being beaten upon by the sun. If you're up for a walk - this is the place for you. Lots of pay parking available and some folks were parked along the street which would be free if you can find one where you won't get cited or towed.

The arboretum is an amazing park with trees, shrubs, and flowers. Many of the trails are paved and are fairly easy to walk. If you want to fill your eyes with all known shades of green and your lungs with the freshest air, then a visit to the arboretum is a must!

Very peaceful, serene evening walk on a Sunday evening. Saw maybe 2 other people walking. Trails are easy on the feet and not too steep of an incline. So many different trees to look at!
