The Hoyt Arboretum was an awesome place to hike. The trails are well defined and signage helps keep you on track. The area is beautiful with plent of tree cover to keep you cool on a hot day.

This is a beautiful area for a morning walk. There are well maintained trails and various routes to take depending on how much time and endurance you want to put forth. There are signs to help direct you along the trails, as well as signs to help you identify the different types of trees. We arrived around 8 in the morning and found free parking very close to the Arboretum. Later in the day, you will need to pay for parking.

Absolutely gorgeous and fascinating place to visit. The 1-mile loop contains all of the trees we had wanted to see - massive Redwoods, Sequoias, Douglas Firs, etc. No charge to visit and was the most rewarding hour or two of our trip.

On the plus side:

It's gorgeous & scenic
There are hikes with varying levels of difficulty

On the minus side:

Difficult if you're pushing a stroller. Lots of uphills on the trail.
We didn't see any birds any more than we'd notice anywhere else. That part was a little puzzling...

The hike had a similar feel to walking through Forest Park. Beautiful greenery. Enjoyed the experience, overall.
