I recommend the Hoyt Arboretum for nature lovers of all ages. The staff at the Visitor Centre are all friendly and helpful. They can help you choose a walking path for your interest and fitness level. (Plus there are washrooms! Always a must for hikers!) The nature paths are beautiful- not hilly or hard to negotiate, and well sign posted.

This is a beautiful area for a nature walk - especially in the morning. There are numerous trails that are all well maintained. Many trees have identification plaques on them and there are groves or group plantings of species to provide a nice glimpse of the variety of vegetation. Signs help direct visitors along the trails, as well as the plaques to identifying the different types of trees. There is some free parking, but if it's all taken there are metered parking spaces as well. A lovely, wonderful natural place to spend time.

This is a beautiful area for a morning walk. There are well maintained trails and various routes to take depending on how much time and endurance you want to put forth. There are signs to help direct you along the trails, as well as signs to help you identify the different types of trees. We arrived around 8 in the morning and found free parking very close to the Arboretum. Later in the day, you will need to pay for parking.

Absolutely gorgeous and fascinating place to visit. The 1-mile loop contains all of the trees we had wanted to see - massive Redwoods, Sequoias, Douglas Firs, etc. No charge to visit and was the most rewarding hour or two of our trip.
