“Spend a day wandering the Pearl”
Reviewed 8 March 2012

Great artsy neighbourhood, with lots of interesting boutique shopping and coffee (try Stumptown Coffee at the bottom of the Ace hotel). If you are a book lover, make sure you plan to spend at least half a day in Powell's, it is UNREAL!! If you are looking for good gluten free beer (usually an oxymoron), try Deschutes Brewery. And for FANTASTIC cocktails, Teardrop!!

“Nice stroll on a sunny day.”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

It was raining most of my visit. However, on sunny weekend, I went walking in the pearl district. It beautiful area, with big variety of shops. If you wanna relax, have coffee, maybe go to a blow dry bar, this is the place. Powell Book place is a must see. Amazing collection of books from all over the world.

“Gentrification done well.”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

This part of down bordered by the river, Burnside and Powells Books on the South, The Union train station on the East and the Freeway on the north is a must see part of town for the boutique shopper. There are cookware shops here, modern furniture stores, a knitting shop, art galleries, antique stores and food and drink stops galore (really great ones too!!).

“Best place on a summer day”
Reviewed 3 March 2012

I love walking the Pearl on a warm, summer day. So many great shops and restaurants; you can spend the whole weekend and still not see everything. I stay away in bad weather, though - that's a better time to just destination shop/eat.
