We were lucky enough to join in as tour of this unique area was starting, but there is also a program, and laminated cards to help in flower identification, if there is no docent tour while you are there.
The rooms and gardens were constructed in China, and then reassembled here in Portland as a representation of the tranquil garden a rich artist might have near his home. The garden honors nature, rocks, water, tranquility and poetry. The carvings and art are amazing, the flowers and plants are fragrant and beautiful. There was art for sale, music being played, a fortune stick cup, and the wonderful relaxing sound of water flowing down the rocks to a Koi pond.
You can stay as long as you like, and there Is a gift shop on your way home, a lot of very unique books and gifts.

You would never know what's inside by just walking by this entire block in Portland. Fabulous Chinese garden with water features and amazing architecture. Ellen (?) was our guide and she was fabulous and funny. There is a tea room on site that we heard was really great but we did not take the time to visit. It looked pretty authentic as we walked by.

We loved our visit to this Chinese garden! It is really just as good as the ones when saw in Suzhou (China). It is said that this is the best traditional Ming style garden outside China and we do fully agree!

This was a lovely experience. We didn't take the tour and enjoyed wandering round on our own. It was well worth going to.

My girlfriend and I were on our annual trip when we visited this garden. It's in the middle of Portland, Oregon and it really doesn't seem like it when you're in a large city. We spent about an hour maybe a little more. There was a artist there, where you could watch her and talk with her.

I'm not sure if this garden is good with someone in a wheelchair. I remember a few steps, but no ramps. You may want call if you plan on calling.
