“Home cooked, fresh, tasty, and authentic...Look no further!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2011

If you want to enjoy great Lebanese food while visiting the fabulous city of Portland, look no further! This place is a must on any visit to Rose City. Located between SW 3rd and SW 4th on SW Stark is Karam (which means appropriately, Welcome!). The food is always fresh, tasty and authentic (growing up in a Lebanese home with great cooks, I have pretty high standard for my Lebanese food). We chose the chicken shwarma with rce and the lamb couscous dinners, with suffed grape leaves and baleelah (cooked chick pea dip, different from hummus) as appetizers. We also substituted our house salad for the best tabouleh around. Vegetarians will have many choices too, as will fish lovers. A wonderful husband and wife team own and operate this restaurant and aim to please every time. A full liquor bar, wonderful Lebanese and domestic wines and beer alongbwith fabulous homemade desserts make this a perfect place to enjoy any evening out in PDX...also open for breakfast and lunch too. Don't miss Karam Lebannese Restaurant...you'll be sorry you did.

“Love it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2011

Karam is my favorite Lebanese in Portland. The chicken schwarma is to die for. The hummus is outstanding, as is their bread - which they bring a never-ending supply of. They take reservations. Ask for a window table. We keep going back and back and the quality and taste is always great.

“New favorite restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2011

It's always a promising sign when you're entering a restaurant for the first time as the people exiting are compelled to give you rave reviews about the place. That was the case with our first visit to Karam a couple of weeks ago. And both the food and the experience lived up to the praise. Our group ordered a pretty wide selection of items from the menu and everything was delicious. And the service was top-notch. The family who owns and runs the restaurant are welcoming, fun, generous, and just seem to be very, very nice folks. Karam will be a regular destination for us from now on.

“Lebanese Generosity!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2011

First timer on a good friends recommendation. Food is truly authentic, and delicious. My appetizer sampler plates were all vegan but non-veg is equally available. I'm returning for some Lamb Kabobs. The eggplant humus is extraordinary! I enjoyed the Turkish Coffee (served in traditional pot) and balklava I had for dessert
The only thing missing were dancers but I think they may be coming! :-)
You will not leave hungry, and your re ain't desire will be to return soon! Five Stars.

“Delicious food, AMAZING family!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2011

We have lived in Portland for years, but this was our first time to Karam. It will become one of our more frequented eateries now. It is a smaller restaurant, quaint and cozy, although they do have space in the back for larger parties. The food was truly delicious but the family that owns the business and the waitresses were SO WONDERFUL that we felt like we were part of their family! They were sooooo nice!!! We have to go back over and over now! We sampled beef, chicken and lamb...although my entree could have been a little hotter when it arrived at my table. We also got a Greek salad to start and the portion was humongous. We also were served huge portions of hot flat bread with every course. At the end, we tried two different desserts, knafe and knafe-b-kaak. Both were delicious, but the knafe-b-kaak was over-the-top to-die-for. It is a warm, sweetened cheese and bread type food, and it was just the best thing we have tasted in years. Karam means "generous" and they aren't lieing about that! There was so much food and we were so eager to try different things that we brought a lot of food home with us. Even with a large salad, two entrees, wine, and dessert, our meal was still well under $100. Incredible!
