“If you like tapas, you'll love Toro Bravo”
Reviewed 7 February 2012

This was the 2nd time my wife and I have eaten at toro Bravo and both times it was well worth the wait. They are always busy and you can expect to wait up to an hour but it is a wait that will be richly rewarded. The tapas are top notch (we have been to Spain many times and happily know good tapas) and the selection is excellent. We have especially enjoyed the bacon wrapped dates, tortilla espanola, shrimp with chiles, morrocan lamb, and sauteed chard and both the blood orange and raddicio salads were excellent. The wine list was also a treat...Mindy works hard to find uncommon spanish wines and although we drink almost nothing but Spanish, she has rocked us on both occasions with great, moderately priced bottles we had never heard of. If she still has some, try the Jean Leon, an amazing bordeaux style from Penedes, northwest of Barcelona. Toro Bravo is truly a taste of Espana in Portland.

“My tongue is dancing!!!”
Reviewed 3 February 2012

We have never had a bad experience at Toro Bravo. We have always appreciated the seasonal treats such as the grilled corn with cilantro/pesto. On the most recent visit, we savored our regular favorites such as the butternut squash with Harissa and sheeps milk cheese or the brussel sprouts with bacon in a sherry cream sauce. This last time around, we thrilled to the taste of the short ribs and a delightful lamb and lentil stew. The grilled octopus is as tender as you will find. Mindy, the bartender is a marvel of multi tasking. She was able to recall approx. 10 orders while holding conversations and mixing drinks all without error. Thank you for the many wonderful experiences.

“Best meal ever!”

There was a wait and we ended up sitting at the upstairs bar - boy was it worth it! We let the server choose for us and he did not disappoint. If you are in Portland and hungry his place is not to be missed.

“Great Intro to Spanish cuisine”
Reviewed 27 January 2012

We enjoyed the "Chef's Choice for the Table" which was a sampler of various items on the menu. In total we had 9 dishes including bread, salad, appetizers, tapas and several small plates of some main dishes. Mixed with a pitcher of sangria our dinner was excellent. The service was great and each dish was described when served to us. We went on a Friday night and it was very lively atmoshpere. We definitely would recommend this restaurant to friends.

“Great food... Killer drinks”

Loved the spicy margarita! Scallops were perfect. Not everything was excellent but enough of the menu was, and the service, oh yeah and the drinks!
