Great Location Average Hotel

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 4, 2017
We won this hotel on a bidding site, and likely paid a lower than average rate. We were two women travelling together. As it goes with bidding sites, we had only one double bed in the room as all of the two bedded rooms were sold out.

The room was not very clean on check in, but the hotel had a cat convention in house and they were very busy, so unable to move us. The pen in the compendium looked to have been used to eat toffee or something brown by the previous guest. Chair in the room had a unsightly stain on it. Just gave us an overall feeling of ick. Coffee, tea, shampoo, conditioner, glassware and towels were not replenished fully the second day. It was like the maid had rushed through the room and forgot to come back.

Bed was very comfy, we did request a change if one came available to a room with a larger bed, but we never did have that chance.

Parking garage was very big and convenient to the entrance. The hotel is also situated directly on the transit line, so getting to and from downtown or the stadium was simple.

Front desk staff were friendly, but hotel operator really was not helpful or nice at all - so average rating on the service overall.

There are no fridges in the rooms and bring your own wine opener!

Coffee bar - good coffee - but I would choose to eat outside of the hotel. Much better options.

There is a pool - but it is outdoors - so a summer amenity only.

I would come back for location only. Just not a great experience overall.

This is a large hotel with convenient parking facilities. The room is well appointed although - oddly - nowhere to hang towels after use. The bed is very comfy. We had dinner at Gather, which was very tasty. The staff were generally very pleasant and those at breakfast were particularly hard-working and helpful. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The hotel is very conveniently placed for visiting the nearby Lloyds Centre. I would make a return visit without hesitation.

This is a good hotel for visitors in the downtown area. Very convenient when coming from airport using MAX, stops across the street from hotel. The food in the bar area is good and plentiful, the breakfast is just OK, $12 for cold breakfast and $18 for hot breakfast is not worth the price. Room was large and beds comfy.

Room was clean and nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great location as we were walking distance to the moda center and a quick Uber ride to get some dinner and drinks. Easy check in and out and convenient to have the parking garage

Stayed at this hotel for just under 24 hours and unfortunately won't be able to review the restaurant, fitness center or amenities. The location was central for where I was heading and found Uber to not be more than 2-3 minutes away, regardless of the time of day. It was a quick 10 or less minute ride from the train station or downtown area (about $7 Uber). There is a fantastic market located about 2 blocks from the hotel called the Green Zebra Grocery that has great takeaway food as well as drinks, snacks and frozen foods. Plenty of restaurants in the area and only a block of so from the Lloyd Center (shopping mall).

The check-in was a little bumpy and ended up moving rooms. The first room really had quite a strong odor of bleach and was glad to be out of it. There is a bit of noise on the hotel that is closest to the train tracks, something to be aware of if you are sensitive to it. Also smelled quite a bit of cigarette smoke in the hallway, which is pretty concerning for a smoke-free property.

The room itself was fine, the bed was moderately comfortable, balcony was a nice touch and helped air out the room. HVAC worked perfectly, and there was a comfortable work desk and chair. The bathroom needed some improvement. It was very difficult to get a comfortable water temperature in the shower, it's possible the knob was too loose, but either was scalding hot or too cold. The floor of the shower got very slippery and the water pressure kept going in/out. No one stays in a hotel for the shower, but would be nice to see some improvements made to make it a better experience. This is also a green hotel, so they provide one bar of soap for your hands, but otherwise it's shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in containers in the shower.

The only other improvement I could recommend to the hotel is that the size of the trash bins was absolutely tiny. It might make more sense to provide a larger trash/recycling bin instead of two tiny ones in the room.

The hotel did seem to cater to a lot of business travelers and could tell they were making good use of the on-site restaurants. Self parking is about $25 a day, valet a bit higher. Concierge service was excellent and they put up with a few of my annoying requests with patience and ease.

Overall, I would stay here again, was easy to find my way around and the ability of transport made it convenient to anywhere in town.

Room tip: Away from the train
