“Salad and Pizza Best on the Mountain”
Review of Al Forno Ferruzza

We have experienced a few very good places in Govy and ok places in Welches, and mostly try to cook our own meals during our mountain stays, but wanted to eat out this time and were thrilled to find this place our second night. The four of us shared a margherita pizza, which I liked better than any I have had anywhere in the Portland area much less the mountain. Its thin toasted crust and aged cheese that permeated the dish were to die for. The salad was described as having a plethora of ingredients, which had one of our party laughing until it arrived, as he was even more pleased with it than the rest of us, kept commenting how good it was. Their pizza (one large size) and the $9 salad were just right for the four of us, about $30 plus drinks given our pizza choice. They also have hearty meat varieties that cost a bit more. We didn't order much in the way of drinks this time, but they offered beer and several varieties of wine. Parking is somewhat limited, but we managed even with a full house. We will undoubtedly return in the future, as this presents an outstanding option coming, going or staying at the mountain, beyond what we'd expected even after reading other favorable reviews, a culinary treat to be sure.

If you like thin crust pizza, this place is great! Tasty toppings, in a cozy atmosphere. For the meat eaters they include Elk (??!?!?) Cannoli were a little less than traditional to my taste, but still good, as is the tiramisu. Also the best foosball table around (though the artwork above it is not exactly the greatest for kids prone to nightmares....)

If you like thin crust with a little char, you'll love this pie. The oven is wood fired and gives the pizza a nice crunchy crust. Don't miss the Cannoli's either, the filling is sweetened with maple syrup. Best Pizza from the mountain to PDX.

This restaurant does just a few things, but does them all exceptionally well. We saw the sign "rustic pizza" and decided to give it a try. It was phenomenal. The environment is laid back and friendly. The service is attentive and considerate. You get the sense that they genuinely care about your experience. We had the Sicilian pizza with elk sausage, pepperoni, carmelized onions, and basil. It was literally one of the best pizzas we have ever had. It was flavorful, filling, fresh and clean. Everything is fresh. The Parmesan cheese is grated off a block. The margaritas are made with fresh hand squeezed lime. Just go there. You will be glad you did.

THE BEST place we've had the pleasure to visit during our Mt Hood odyssey!

The Puttanesca pizza is utter perfection. The crust is paper thin yet not cracker crisp nor soggy. I cook with a wood oven and I know this is the holy grail of crust perfection! The service is awesome, attentive and personal. The Grateful Dead music was spot on for the vibe. The curated tap beers and cider were perfect. No gazillion choices, one carefully chosen amber, IPA, porter & cider were spot on. The bruschetta was divine and finely crafted with fresh grape tomatoes, castelventrano olives and freshly picked basil. We were about to order cannoli to bring home and they brought us a little box of them as a kindness.

We are already planning our next visit!
