They say that when you travel, look for a place where the locals eat. In Salem, Oregon, that would be the Olive Garden. When we arrived, the place was jammed. It took a good half hour to park, and we waited more than a half-hour for a table.
As a chain, the Olive Garden's food is reasonably consistent from one restaurant to the next. We have never been disappointed there, including this restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious.
Similarly, the service was impeccable. We had just enough attention from the wait person to receive everything we wanted or needed, without sensing any intrusion. Those waiting on us were gracious to a fault.
The only black mark worth mentioning is that two women were asked to leave because they had not finished visiting by the end of their meal, and the restaurant was over-crowded and needed the table. Such things ought not occur in any restaurant, for any reason. Part of the dining experience is the visiting that takes place after the food has been eaten.
All in all, we had a very pleasant experience.
