Seaside in the summertime is a tourist nightmare. If you like expensive hotel rates, crowds and dumb tourists that walk and drive slow, then that is a good time for you to visit. I stayed here last weekend at the Hillcrest and the rate was only $76 per night, which was much less than you would normally pay for a night at any Seaside hotel.
My buddy and I came down to get some early fall surf nearby and stayed at this place. Hillcrest is an older, beach style hotel that is painted a turquoise color. The rooms face a center parking lot with the hotel office down below on the corner of the lot. The lot itself is small and will only fit about 3-4 cars, all other parking is street parking out back. The best part about the place to me was that it was relatively quiet.
Rooms are pretty spacious; I had a double queen bed room with a small LCD wall mounted TV with cable and a DVD player. I think there was a fridge in the room, but didnt use it. The beds are comfortable too and I slept like a boss. I guess the hotel has a spa and sauna, but I didn't visit it.
The staff was friendly, rates were inexpensive, nothing to complain about so I would definitely come back in the future.More
