A nice resort with access to family friendly activities. Beyond the Xmas lights in the garden, the ice skating is a nice add-on. And Silver Falls with its gorgeous hikes is a short drive away. Silverton is a comfortable small town and Mt. Angel with it's German flavor is another short drive away.
Negatives were rooms showing their age, the beds were uncomfortable for 3/4 of our family. The staff is friendly but the way-finding is not intuitive and signage is almost non-existent.
Positives, besides location, were a very solid complementary breakfast, clean rooms, friendly staff, and ample parking.
The down-beat Frosty's lounge conversion of a conference room/wedding reception area to a kids holiday TV/toy area with quickie microwaved food options & bar actually worked perfectly for us and a number of other families with wiped out kids at the end of a long day. Did a good job of providing an option beyond the more formal restaurant.
I expect we'll be back, it's a good out-of-PDX meet up point with outdoor activities, although as our kids get older I expect we'll eat more meals in Silverton.

Our family enjoyed the festivities last Monday. Beautiful light display!! Much larger than expected. The heating stations were great for quick stops to warm up. There were vendors that gave the European Christmas feel with their offerings. Great experience for all ages!

The best thing about the resort is its proximity to the beautiful Oregon Gardens. The resort, itself, is an OK place to stay. We had a spacious comfortable room with furniture that ranged from tacky to just plain raggedy. There is a conference room for those who need it, a nice bar, a nice restaurant, and a so-so breakfast buffet. Lack of outside lighting and a plethora of rocks and bricks scattered on the grounds can make walking from ones room to the restaurant or bar in the main building at night a bit of an adventure. Staff were pleasant, fun, and helpful. Would we do it again? Not necessarily.

We enjoyed our overnight stay for the holiday festivities. The crowds were bad so I’d recommend an early check in to avoid long waits just to enter the park.
We had dinner in the lounge and although the food was good it was overpriced for what you get.
The rooms are quaint. I didn’t find anything lacking but felt there could’ve been a little more attention to detail.
The staff was friendly—I’m guessing local townspeople—and casual but not of the caliber you’d expect for a “resort.”
All in all we’d likely return since it was a nice getaway and put us in the Christmas mood.
