Our family has been going to Woodloch since the 60's. Its been a annual tradition forever and we go the same weekend every year in December. Although it still retains it's charm, i feel like it has declined in quality and service a bit over the years. It was innevitable i guess, the entire family vacationing dynamic has changed over the years, and Woodloch is trying to retain its authentic charm while trying to compete with cheap Disney, Caribbean, etc type vacations. I think Woodloch will always have its devoted niche, but it may be time for it reorganize itself and get back to the "tradition of excellence" it has prided itself on since 1958.

Same comments as previous review...We, too, stayed in an Edgewater Suite this weekend and the room was not only clean, it was in pristine condition...the 2 bathrooms are a plus with 2 adults and 2 kids!

We will be returning as soon as we can...activities were great...we call this place the "Land Cruise"!!!

Just got back from Woodloh after a three night stay.

Great activities for kids.

I loved the food, esp the homemade pies and ice cream!

We are a family of four so we stayed in the Edgewater suites. Very spacious,

Also a plus..the staff is super friendly.

I highly recommend this place.

Just returned from a long weekend at Woodloch. What a great time we had. Check in was quick and non-eventful. We arrived at 3 pm and our room was ready (which was great because the check-in is very late)

The Positives:
We stayed at the Edgewater Suite (#603). The room was great. We had a great view of the lake. Very clean and spacious. We had 1 Bedroom, 2 Baths (I've never had 2 baths at a hotel room). Each room had its' own TV, which was great for us. The location of the room was awesome - right next to the pool and 5 min walk to the main building where the main dining room is.

As I mentioned before, the variety of activities for kids is unbelievable. We loved the bumper cars, bumper boats, go-carts, game room and arts & crafts room, and miniture golf. The kiddie pool is awesome. It's shallow and has rubber on the bottom so kids don't slip. My son loved the "froggy" water slide.

The lake is beautiful. They have sai boats, row boats, kayaks, etc (it's all included in the price, you don't pay extra).

The Negatives:
It is pricey. However, I felt that we got a lot for our money. They have a very late check-in. It's either 5 or 6 pm, depending on what day of the week it is. The food was OK, nothing special. One thing I wanted to mention is that dining choices are very limited. THey have the main dining room where we ate all our meals. The have specific times for each meal and if you miss it, you're out of luck. They have a deli store on the property where you can get simple sandwiches, salads, etc but that's about it. This is especially important on the arrival day. If you're arriving in between meals (like we did at 3 pm, which was too late for lunch and too early for dinner), that deli is your only choice.

Our family of 4 had a great time at Woodloch. We stayed in the Edgewater Suites with a view of the lake. The rooms are spacious, clean and I would recommend a suite for anyone traveling with kids. The food was good and they offer a nice variety. The kids ate what was presented to them, which was a huge feat.

The outdoor pool area was fun for the little kids and the lake is peaceful. The beach area is a bit on the small side, especially if a lot of people use it. They also had an indoor play area for the little kids. Once we got the door unlocked by someone on the staff, our kids liked playing around the make-shift tree house. That was until all the older kids arrived (between the ages of 12-15) when we had to pull our 2 year olds out of there. No one from the staff monitored the room.

Overall, this is a nice weekend place to go for a family. We'll probably explore new and different areas before returning to Woodloch. The price for a family package for only a few days is very high. Similar to what was mentioned in other reviews, you could go to a more exotic destination with an all inclusive package for almost the same price.
