The food was really terrible. Mostly overcooked and canned food. Salads are mountains of lettuce with horrible sysco type dressings. Sandwiches are deli style cold cuts with veggies from cans dripping with mayonnaise. Soups were of McDonalds quality. Breakfast ends at 9:30. Lunch is over at 2pm and if u r late and not into subway style sandwiches they will offer you with cold cuts, american cheese and mayonnaise-- it's just too bad. Dinner starts at 6. Overall, guests are expected to be on time or else. Compared with our previous visits I did notice some improvement. Fruits were fresh, even though they tasted like they were refrigerated overnight. The buffet if one likes seafood was a highlight as one could pick out healthy choices. Still, more improvement is in order. I believe Wood loch needs to do better in order to attract visitors going forward. Is all inclusive here worth it? I am Not so sure.

Woodloch, Manager at Woodloch Pines Resort, responded to this reviewResponded April 16, 2012

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns, MomNyc123. We value guest input at Woodloch, whether it is complimentary or constructive. Our goal is to create and maintain the best possible vacation experience for our customers.

One of the cornerstones of our success over the years has been the quality and quantity of food available at Woodloch for all ages. During our peak times at the Resort, we serve over 800 meals per seating.

Our vegetables, fruit, and seafood are all fresh. We participate in a Pennsylvania Preferred Purchasing program which prioritizes the purchase of products from local farms. An example would be our dairy fresh products which originate from Kreider’s Family Farm in Lancaster, PA. We recently formed a new relationship with Plainville Farms in Pennsylvania's Amish Country, which will provide us with access to all-natural, antibiotic-free, no growth hormones, and vegetarian-fed poultry.

All of our breads, muffins, cakes, desserts, and our novelty ice cream flavors are made on property at our in-house bakery. Many of these items are available for purchase to take home as well. We re-invested $100,000 in new baking ovens this past year to meet the requests and needs of our guests.

At the resort, we offer three meals per day. Guests can come into the dining rooms during the following times; breakfast 8:30am – 10AM, lunch 12:30pm – 1:30pm, and dinner 6:15pm – 7:30pm. To be clear, customers may come in at any point during those times, resulting in a least an hour span to arrive.

Our style of service allows us to accommodate large and small groups as well as families and adults. Essentially we can feed you as fast or slow as you would like us to!

We provide action-packed days on property with a myriad of events, activities and entertainment. In between the fun, our guests come into the dining areas to re-group and reconnect. Others may just take in the beautiful view of the lake and relax as they enjoy their meal.

The resort meal plans offer menu options that change daily. In addition, we offer six children's offerings for lunches and dinners. We also accommodate special dietary requests and health requirements related to allergies.

If our guests are on a modified meal plan or choose not to be on a meal plan, they have several options to grab a snack or meal including: a full deli in our country store which features Boar’s Head provisions; The North Lodge features bar snacks and hoagies; The Grille Room on the golf course at Woodloch Springs offers an a la carte menu, and during the summer season, we have a lake bar and grille with additional selections. Those staying in our guest homes may choose to utilize their full kitchens and/or barbeque grills. The Lodge at Woodloch, an award-winning destination spa serving gourmet spa cuisine, offers additional dining options for our guests not on a meal plan.

We would appreciate the opportunity to speak to you directly about your concerns so that we can work within the resort to correct it. Please e-mail us at <woodmark-at-woodloch.com>. Thank you for your input!

We returned yesterday from our 3 day, 2 night stay at the Pines at woodloch and our stay was truly nothing short of fabulous! Our girls, ages 8 1/2 and 6 were active every minute of the day thanks to the excellent planning of the staff and management there! This place has everything -- bingo ( LOADS of fun!!!!!) , cupcake wars (this was our last activity and was so fun to meet new friends on our team!), an arts and crafts room for ages 6 and under that made my youngest daughter so happy when she needed a break from activities. Bumper cars, bumper boats (sooooooo much fun!!!!), climbing wall (which only my oldest could do due to weight restrictions/safety concerns), go karts, swimming, playgrounds, hiking, biking, a zip line for ages 13 and up, easter egg hunt, easter arts and crafts, easter activities, the bunny -- this place literally has something for every age group in your family from the toddler age up to the seniors. The nice thing for seniors is that you can pretty much bus it anywhere. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus!!! If you are coming with seniors, I'd probably recommend staying at the pines if there are any mobility issues since a lot of the activites happen there and they can just ride the elevator to get to them :) Our room was clean clean clean!!! So nice to stay somewhere that really takes care of their establishment! Even the restrooms by the bumper boats are clean!! WOW!! Our room had 2 queen beds and a sofa bed and was definitely bigger than the room we stayed in at the Polynesian in Disney (and was cleaner too!!!) We stayed on the second floor by the North Lodge and really couldn't hear too much of the night activities even tho we know there was a DJ right there on Saturday night! The indoor pool area is amazing, and we loved the fact that you could see your money at work with renovations they are doing by building a new outside pool area that will include a swim up bar (woo hoo!!!) and an outside kids pool area too. It was a bit chilly during our stay there, but we still took advantage of the guided boat tour with Maria. I highly recommend doing this to learn about how Woodloch became Woodloch. This was the first activity we did and it was a great start to our stay!!! At every meal there is a character for the younger kids to meet and greet and on Saturday night there is a theme night with a character parade and made it extra special for the younger kids. I saw a few older kids at other tables get pretty into it too :)

I read a few reviews that said the food was fair. We thought the food was pretty amazing!!! The breads were delicious, there were healthy and not so healthy choices available and everything was perfectly cooked and tasty. As my youngest said during every meal -- "YUMMMMMYYYYYY". My older daughter even tried shrimp cocktail and crab legs for the first time this trip -- not once did she order a kids meal !!!! We didn't have a single bad meal, and our server took extra care of my husband and his seafood allergies. Our server for our trip, Brooke, was the sweetest thing ever. She took care of us from our first meal there to the bitter end and was incredible with the kids. I'd request her on our next visit and that for sure will be soon!!!!!!!!

We will have to go back in the summertime even tho in the wintertime they have their own snow tubing hill. There is a slide that goes into an enclosement into the lake that my kids were infatuated with! My youngest cried the second we walked out the door of the main building because she didn't want to leave and wanted 'just one more day!'

Thanks Woodloch for a wonderful weekend full of great food, great amenities, and great memories :)

Woodloch and their outstanding staff made our stay so enjoyable. They understand the customer is first and foremost and they strive to be better each visit. Our family gives this resort 6 stars! Disney pales to this place. Get back to family fun and interaction with other families. The food is outstanding only topped by the wait staff here. You will definitely leave Full !

Room Tip: Nice lake view rooms

I just returned from our first ever family reunion (April 6-8) and to sum it the experience: awesome! My entire family (group of over 25 folks; ages from 2-75) just had a fabulous time!

My family lives in upstate NY, NYC, and the Washington, DC area. We were looking for a central location and an all-inclusive resort for our reunion, so we can relax. From the very first initial conversation with Megan Spaulding, our Group Sales coordinator at Woodloch, I knew we were going to have a great time, with her professionalism and enthusiasm.

Rooms: We all stayed at the Mountain Laurel building (ranging from deluxe rooms, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom suites. The beds were comfortable, the flat panel tv's have HD Channels, and all had great views of the lake. The suites had a washer/dryer which came in handy for washing the swimsuits and a kitchen will a full size refrig/freezer.

The pool is connected to the building and must say the kids and teens really enjoyed the indoor pool. My 2 year old niece just loved the kiddie pool area. We spent a lot of time there and it was so hard for us to leave the pool, since she was having so much fun.

Food: I think I gained 5 pounds in my 3 day/2 night visit. The food quantity is so abundant with a fantastic view of the lake. The service at the restaurant was very friendly and very efficient. Good selection of main courses and would love to get the recipe of that broccoli salad!

Activities: You get an activity sheet at the front desk and during breakfast. I wish we had at least two more days to try, as the three days just was not much time to experience everything Woodloch has to offer. There is so much to do here from bumper cars, bumper boats, family olympics, rifle range, zipling (make sure to register before breakfast, as this gets fully booked fast; that was fun!!!), go karts, family scavenger hunt, the pools, golf, etc...you will never get bored here!

For anyone looking to organize an all-inclusive (alcohol was not included but soft drinks were; unlike cruise ships) land resort, I highly recommend choosing Woodloch!

Room Tip: The Mountain Laurel rooms are directly connected to the Pools and have excellent views of the lake. Their is a shuttle that takes you to all the various resort shuttle drop offs that runs every 10 minutes or so,.

Thank you, Fred! It sounds like you had a fantastic trip and how nice that you could spend time with so many of your family members!

Woodloch is the perfect place for a family reunion as well as large groups because there are many different activities all in one place. As you mentioned, it is also a great option for anyone traveling in the Northeast because we are so close to major metropolitan areas.

We would also be happy to share our broccoli salad recipe with you! You’ll need:
- 1 cup salad dressing (mayonnaise)
- 1/3 cup sugar, 3 Tbsp vinegar (cider)
- 1 bunch broccoli (raw cut up florets)
- 1 cup raisins, 1 red onion (finely chopped)
- 8 oz. mozzarella shredded chess
- 6 bacon strips or bacon bits.

Mix the first three ingredients, and toss with the dry ingredients. Enjoy!

Sincerely,

The Woodloch Family

Just got back from two nights at Woodloch Pines. We stayed in the Springbrook Building on the third floor and had a one bedroom Suite. I was impressed with the staff most of all - everyone who worked there seemed genuinely nice and professional. The room was clean and the view of the lake was nice. It was a good location for us because we walked to the indoor pool at night and did not have to go outside (reason I selected the room). We were just a short walk to the Main Lodge and all activities. Kids did an Easter egg hunt, bumper cars, petting zoo, soccer challenge and spent several hours in the Forest. They had a lot of organized games like Amazing Race which would have been great for older kids. Did not stick around for the nightly shows kids were more into swimming. It was a little cool for boating activities but would have done that if the weather was warmer - nice options to have.

Two cons - 1) the price - roughly $650. a night for Traditional 2 meal plan family of four which seemed pricey and I had to pay $20. to rent a microwave - that seemed like penny pinching to me. The accommodations were nice but not what I would consider luxurious (maybe 3 1/2 stars). 2) I was underwhelmed by the food (though not surprised - it is hard to cater to such a high volume and match everyone's palate). I stuck with the fish entrees - salmon was the best dinner I had. Breakfast was OK - basics - eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, fruit, cereal, etc.... with a special - french toast or pancakes each day while we were there.

Overall a very good experience though I would not go at peak season and would look for specials for a return trip. It is very family friendly - not just kids - there is literally something for every age. I observed many seniors smiling and enjoying themselves. This would be a good destination for families that have kids with a wide age gap or if grandparents come along.

Trip advisor does have a $100. coupon for newbies and we used that so if it's still up and you're going - use it they require a printed coupon at the front desk.

Room Tip: Springbrook is good if you want a nice view of lake and want to be able to walk to the indoor pool without going outside. Had a one bedroom Suite with 2 bathrooms (no kitchenette), small fridge, rented a microwave for $20. Short walk to Main Lodge and activities.

Thank you for your thoughtful review, Brice2! Staying in Springbrook is the perfect option for our guests who want to be very close to the pool. As you mentioned, you don’t even have to go outside to get to there!

While our packages are not inexpensive, our goal is always to provide our guests with the most value possible with all of our meal options, activities, and spacious accommodations. We are glad that you were able to take advantage of our $100 resort credit on Tripadvisor. We would love to welcome you back again soon!
