Restaurant was great. Food and service terrific..
Hotel just awful. It was clean.
Stairs to rooms steep and shallow. Bed mattresses equal to prison experience. Pillows hard.no duvet covers on inexpensive poly blankets.wifi did not work.
Heat and ac controlled on main floor. Given a space heater. No water glass.. No Phone in room to contact management. No energy to walk a steep flight of stairs.
When I asked for an additional blanket I was made aware of one in a ball thrown on the floor.
No more here ever!

I don't understand these other reviews... stayed there last Friday night, no heat (was freezing cold all night, been home sick all week which I somewhat attribute to this fact), no toilet paper, loud fans outside the window, brick wall with fans and pipes right outside the window all for the wonderful price of $129...what a joke. No breakfast. Horrible. No one to even find for assistance in the morning. $50 would've been a fair price for this room. I think management really needs to reevaluate what you're getting for the money. Lots of other hotels in the area. Never again.

We stayed here for a last minute overnight getaway. I was greeted at the check in desk and promptly checked in for our stay. The wait staff for their adjoining restaurant were in the lobby before their shift and were all quite friendly and welcoming. We were shown to our 3rd floor room by the owner and she started the fireplace for us to warm the room. The room was quite large and looked to have have been recently renovated. While their was a dresser, the room was lacking a place to hang your jacket or clothes. We did immediately notice the street noise below but I figured it would not be a problem with Hawley being such a small town. Well I was wrong, the traffic was noticeable all night. I understood the noise being so prevalent in a historic building but I would opt for a room in the back of the property if you are a light sleeper like I am. The bed was much better than most we have encountered in stays in other classic properties like this. We did take advantage of their restaurant for dinner. The service was great as the whole staff looked to be pitching in as needed to deliver drinks and food. They had a 2 piece Jazz band playing in the corner that was great but a bit loud for our liking during dinner. The adjacent table had a birthday guest who was serenaded by one of the staff on his saxophone.I believe he was the owners son and he could have jumped in with the 2 man band and fit right in. Our pasta meals were plentiful, tasty and a good value for the price. We were seated directly in front of the entry door on a chilly night which provided to be a challenge as the diners/smokers could not seem to grasp the concept of closing the door constantly allowing cold air to blow in on us. As they were full we could not ask to be moved, but once it did start to clear out we were offered a chance to move for dessert but we chose to stay put and finish up there. Again I will say the staff were all very pleasant and accommodating the guests requests. One other guest room suggestion would be the addition of coffee makers in the room to give us caffeine lovers our morning fix.

At the last minute, we decided to meet friends for dinner but didn't want to travel far. Even though The Belvidere is local, we hadn't been there for awhile. Our past visits were just OK. We met our friends at the bar for drinks and sat for awhile because they felt so comfortable. They enjoyed the antique bar and our drinks were exceptionally tasty! When we sat at our table, the menu being so inviting, it was hard to choose. We decided to order two appetizers and share. The Fried Mozzerella squares were nice, but the mussels in a green garlic sauce were fabulous! They are a definite on my next visit! We each ordered different entries and each one was delicious. My lobster tail was a decent size, the tuna sushi was prepared medium, but came out still pink in center, just as it should. The other two dinners were steak and a sausage dish which were equally good. We never pass up dessert and after careful consideration I chose cheese cake. Yummy! My friend had a brownie with ice cream which was enough for two! I am looking forward to going back again.

Room tip: Hawley is a small town with antique shopping within walking distance and various weekend celebrations during the year.
