“Lovely, well appointed house with all the amenities you could want.”
Reviewed June 23, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is tastefully decorated, light and airy, and has all the home comforts you could wish for. It is really peaceful in the house because it is tucked away and yet it is only 5 minutes walk to good restaurants, cafes and shops. You can easily get to Avebury and Bath among other places, and there are some nice local walks along the river. We have already recommended the house to our relatives!

“Great for a peaceful retreat in a beautiful market town.”
Reviewed April 12, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We loved staying at 1 The Manse. I had wanted to book a relaxing place to stay within easy walking distance of Marlborough High Street and with a convenient parking space for the car. The cottage suited us perfectly. It was a bonus to have a really friendly welcome from the neighbour who looks after the place, and reassuring to know that he was on hand if we had any questions. It's surprisingly light and airy inside despite being tucked away just off the high street and the handy bench outside proved to be in a good sun-trap. The owners have equipped and decorated the place really well so we had everything we needed to relax and feel at home. I would definitely consider booking the cottage again...possibly for a week this summer!

Many, many thanks for your very positive and informative review. We really appreciate people taking the time to do a review, especially such a glowing one! So pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay. Marlborough is a lovely market town and it is certainly good being near all amenities but in a very quiet position as well.
Look forward to possibly hearing from you in the near future re a return visit.

“Super Cottage”
Reviewed March 27, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We are regular visitors to Marlborough and we think that this cottage is great. It extremely cosy yet feels light and airy at the same time. The owner Sue has done a great job in furnishing it. The kitchen is very functional and has all the equipment you need should you wish to cook, and all in very good order. The cottage overall is spotless and uncluttered. The beds are very comfortable and the linen fresh and crisp. The shower is good. Sue is very efficient and flexible regarding arrival and departure times which is wonderful, and Jonathan the neighbour very friendly and helpful and gives you a good introduction to everything. Wi-fi also works really well, which was essential for our teenagers! Finally, location is excellent as just a 1 min walk to the High Street with all its shops. Overall, a delight to stay in, and we will definitively be regular visitors!

Thankyou so much for your glowing review of The Manse. We try really hard to keep everything up to date and in good working order and are so pleased when it is appreciated. Jonathan will be thrilled to be described, yet again as'Very friendly and helpful'! We are so lucky to have both him and Diane as neighbours and they do a huge amount to keep everything running smoothly.
Look forward to hearing from you again in the future and the very best of luck to your son in competing in the Devizes to Westminster canoe race.

“Warm welcome to wet travellers”
Reviewed February 23, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

My wife, brother and I arrived late in the afternoon after visiting Stonehenge on possibly the wettest and coldest day in February. We were met by John as we got out of the car and were delighted to find that he had put the heating on in the house and it was lovely and warm. John showed us round the house and explained where things were (not always obvious) and said that he was only next door and give him a knock if we needed anything. He was good to his word. The house isn't the most spacious, but is well stocked and had enough room for us 3 adults. The Manse is situated close to the centre of Marlborough and in the same street has restaurants/take-aways from all over the world. My wife tells me that the fish and chips from Yeungs across the road were the best she has had. We walked from the house to Avebury along the Wessex Ridgeway - about 6.25 miles each way. If you like walking, it is well worth putting your boots on.

Many thanks for your review and glad to hear that your stay at The Manse was a positive one; apart from the ghastly weather! The house, as you say is not huge but we hope that we manage to provide all that people need to make their stay a comfortable and enjoyable one.
If you would like to stay again any time in the future you would be most welcome and we would certainly try to arrange some dry weather for you!

“Perfect, lived up to all my hopes and expectations!”
Reviewed January 31, 2015 for a stay in January 2015

I booked The Manse for a five day break as a surprise for my husband's 70th birthday - he had no idea where we were headed until we arrived. Thankfully he was delighted with my choice, as was I! The Manse is a charming holiday home, compact but so cleverly and thoughtfully arranged that it feels surprisingly spacious, with room for every creature comfort, even if some are in unexpected places (fridge, cutlery, washing machine!).

The location is perfect, tucked away in a quiet corner of Marlborough, but just a few short steps from the high street. And to have a dedicated parking space so close to a busy town centre was a bonus indeed, even if it is a rather tight space and tricky to get into - that pleasure I left to my husband, who had the procedure down to a fine art in no time!

Jonathan, the neighbour who looks after the house, was so friendly and helpful, without being intrusive, and it was good to know that we had help and advice so close at hand should we need it.

There are several take-aways very close if you don't feel like cooking - we can recommend the fish and chip shop just across the road! For my husband's birthday I had booked a table at Coles Restaurant, just a short walk away on Kingsbury Hill. What a really good choice that was - first class food in a lovely relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. So if you're looking for that perfect place for a special occasion, you really can't go wrong with this eatery.

All in all, a lovely few days away. The only downside was that my husband's birthday was in January - the weather was absolutely arctic! Another trip in fairer weather is called for, I reckon.

Quiet central location. Better than staying in one of the noisy pub/hotels. Compact but very well organized. Parking the car a little tricky. Neighbors helpful without being intrusive.

Chip shop over the road serves best chips.

Marlborough has plenty going on and is a great place to explore the area from.
