We Visited this lodge on the 4th of August, coming from Dublin.
The Lodge was warm and inviting, a lot of care has certainly gone into the property. As soon as you closed the gate you felt like you was in your own world.
We wanted Fishing for the Men and Relaxation for the Women and it's exactly what we got, the table on the terrace was fantastic being able to watch Barbel being caught while enjoying a BBQ and a few drinks.
Little details made us feel welcome, such as games dvd's and cookies.
We are already planning our next visit.
Well we came for the fishing and were not disappointed despite the river not fishing it's best. Kim gave us a warm greeting on arrival and very kindly left us some goodies in the fridge (much appreciated Kim). The general standard of accommodation was excellent and really wanted for nothing, Kim even has two fridges so bait can be kept separate if required or filled with beer depending on your preference. There are two local tackle shops who can give advice on fishing tips as well as the necessary bait (we found luncheon meat and bread flake to be the best) The best times are early am and late pm into dark. I thought Kim's photo's of her property really didn't do it justice, much nicer actually there, and there is a great view over the river form the balcony decking, my personal favourite spot. The steps down to the waters edge are a little steep and could possibly cause difficulty for the elderly, but if time and care was taken this could be overcome, there is a strong rope support to help you up and down and once down set your fishing tackle up and leave it down there, totally secure. In addition to the lovely views, great fishing, you get a chance to see some shy wildlife, our highlights were the beautiful kingfisher on a daily basis, a grass snake that swam the width of the river and came in at our feet, and an almost tame blackbird which I had nearly eating out of my hand. Plenty of good places to eat out in Bewdley at varying budgets, I am still in a state of shock at finding Doom bar beer at £1.79 a pint. Small supermarkets locally, or large about 10 / 15 minutes away. A totally enjoyable time, my only regret is that I didn't book for two weeks.
The best part of this house is the outside space amazing found the lounge a bit dark and dreary difficult to read with the poor lighting. In my opinion a bit overpriced.
The photographs on trip advisor do not do his cottage justice. Kim has thought of everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break. Lovely homely touches and very clean accommodation. We would not hesitate to recommend this to our friends.
Thank you Kim for the fizz, chocs and crumpets you supplied. We really hope to visit again!
Didn't want to come home. Beautiful cabin with absolutely everything you could want for a lovely relaxing stay. The scenery is stunning and to sit on the decking with a glass of wine watching the river and the fields is just bliss. I'd dearly love to stay again. Strongly recommend to anyone wishing to visit the area.
