We've eaten here twice recently, the first time poor, but given we descended on the pub in some numbers with no notice thought we'd give them another try, this time having phoned ahead to book for a party of 10. Frustratingly it was no better. To summarise, the drinks are too expensive for the location and ambience, for example £3.65 for a pint of average bitter. An excellent bathams bitter is around £3 in pubs relatively local to this.

On food, the evening menu certainly isn't low cost, at around £10 to £17 for a main, so I'd expect decent quality and service. Neither has been delivered on our visits. The most recent resulted in a one hour, twenty minute wait for one main course, two children's meals which came out last, and two sea food platters, which were clearly frozen food.

How on earth anyone running an establishment with such potential can get it consistently so wrong is beyond me. It's in a good location, near to both tourist attractions and a good local catchment area, yet the management clearly exhibit a blend of incompetence and carelessness towards serving paying customers in an appropriate way. I'll not be giving a third chance and would encourage others to vote with their wallet in a similar manner.

Being only a few minutes away from the Queens Head and having lived in this area for over 40 years, thought it was time to try it out. Went with family for lunch and the food was delicious. Beef lasagne, and liver and onions with mash, well presented by friendly staff. Will definitely be returning.

On our 2nd night away we walked a short distance and ate here.
They were very accommodating snd had just had 15 unexpected guests for food so apologised to us that it might take a bit longer.
I requested a small portion snd that was no problem I had mushroom strononoff and my partner had steak both meals were well
Presented and tasted really good. We had the local cider to drink which was really good.
The waitress was polite and friendly and the atmosphere was quiet but vet comfortable. Great place

I booked the Queens Head for a joint birthday dinner 18 in total as we had eaten there before and was very satisfied. Most had starters, mains and desert and all our meals were served promptly by a very pleasant waitress. Freshly cooked and plenty of helpings (although we did pre-order as there was a lot of us). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The pub is in a quite corner of the lovely little village although a little tired looking makes up with the hospitality of the staff. Thank you Sue for making our birthday celebration and good one.
