Not the best experience for me, maybe it was a combination of events.

Stayed at Tottington Manor due to a Family wedding, to say this is a 4 star hotel, is a stretch. I cannot fault the staff, as they were perfect 10/10, the food served up was not very hot during the meal, but as it was a big party i felt for the kitchen staff, trying to manage these covers must have been a challenge.

it was the room that for me was where it fell down, it looked like it could have done with some modernisation, or maybe it was meant to be going for the dated retro look. Wifi was non existant, the bed was comfortable and bedding was good quality, but it was raining hard last night and the wind was blowing a gale, the windows were rattling all night, causing me to wake up several times, so a distrubed sleep.

Breakfast was only average, not what i was expecting - maybe i was expecting more, and at check out the staff seemed to be rushed and not really ready to listen to us, and not once was i asked how my stay was.

sadly i will not return.

Hi,
Firstly I am sorry it has taken some time to respond but I have only just seen your review and I am really saddened to read your comments. Could you please let me know which wedding you attended here?
We are independently assessed by the AA who have visited us 3 times since 2021 and very rigorously concluded that our guest accommodation is very much in the 4 Star criteria bracket. As with any hospitality business, things need updating which we consistently throughout the Hotel, perhaps you could let me know which room you were staying in and I can answer in more detail. I am however very sorry that the weather caused you to have a poor nights sleep but I am glad you enjoyed the comfortable bed and quality linen. I am surprises however at the wifi as we have a direct fibre leased line into the property so your wifi should have been fast and uninterrupted. I am wondering if the weather was also the issue here?
I am however most shocked that your food for the wedding meal was not hot enough? This is most unusual for us because we individually serve our wedding food table by table, nothing is pre-prepared, it is all plated direct from the oven and all freshly cooked in house. I wish we had known at the time as we certainly could have made this right on the day.
We are praised very highly normally for our excellent Sussex produce breakfast here at Tottington so please help us further by letting us know what you might have preferred as this could be very useful feedback for us.
I will pass on your comments to the team as you have offered kind feedback about their service which is much appreciated.
Please consider coming back to see us as you would be very welcome. Very best wishes Helen & Phil.

Stayed whilst in the area, we have stayed In a lot of places and this was just average to us. I have paid less for 5 * accomodation. Everyone has different opinions so I'm not putting it down just saying how I feel. Sussex is a lovely place so didn't ruin our time away.

Went for an afternoon tea today brought as a present from our son and daughter in law. Having been there many times and even had a private function there last year and always been highly satisfied, but this time was a bit taken back as usually with afternoon tea you are topped up with coffee and tea but when I asked for some hot water to top up my teapot, which was given to me, it wasn’t till my husband paid for a separate glass of wine and a beer that they’d actually charged us £3.50 for the hot water, now they could argue and say it was a fresh pot of tea but it definitely wasn’t it was only hot water and I didn’t even get any extra milk. Bit over the top to charge that to my mind and very off putting.
Was also put off by a group of women who came in to eat and had a small dog that they sat on a chair at the table and was being fed titbits from their table, not hygienic at all but the waiter didn’t say a thing. I am a dog lover by the way but NOT in a restaurant up at a table.

Dear Shirley,
Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review, this is always very helpful feedback for us.
I hope you enjoyed the Afternoon Tea and I am very sorry because we do not charge for top ups of Tea or coffee with afternoon tea, they are entirely complimentary so this must be a mistake from a new member of the team and I am so sorry this has happened. Please can you contact us as we would like to offer you an immediate refund for this. We will certainly take action to ensure that all our Front of House team are refreshed on this part of their training to ensure it doesn't happen in future.
We offer various places to enjoy Afternoon Tea including our TERRA Restaurant, our covered Decking and also our Olive Lounge, I can only think you were seated in the lounge as this is our dog friendly restaurant. Dogs are not permitted in TERRA and I can see that this would have been a better place to have seated you on this occasion. I am very sorry this ruined the experience for you.
Please come back and see us again, in the meantime please call on 01903 815757 and I can process a refund over the telephone or I would be delighted to offer you both a complimentary drink on your next visit. Very best wishes Helen & Phil.

Me and my partner stayed here on Saturday evening, we couldn’t fault anything.. it was lovely and quiet just what we both needed, from start to finish ‘Evie’ was just brilliant, took us to our room, came outside and put the fire pit on for us… nothing was to much trouble for her! Very satisfied with our stay & very comfortable, we loved the truffle fries! what a lovely evening & a very special place for both of us! We will defiantly be back!

Sunday Lunch booked for 3 O’Clock for my partners Birthday a party of 8. Had to stand and wait until 3.20 before getting to table, then everything was a long wait! Order wasnt taken until 4pm starters turned up at 4.20 then main course gone 5pm. mains were cold and most of us had roast Lamb, we waited so long for the mint sauce to arrive that some of us had finished our meal! Potatoes were so overcooked you had to saw through them. Some starters & puddings were no longer available. Definately didnt pay the service charge as quite frankly it was appalling.

8 adults and 4 children ate in one of their private rooms. It was truly an incredible experience.
The fact they have these rooms is so wonderful as we could spread out, let toddlers move about and not worry about mess or noise.
A group of 12 in a restaurant would normally be one long table with 6 on each side but the large banquet style table meant we could all talk to each other and this was such a brilliant touch.

There was also an open fire going which was beautiful (high up so out of the way of little hands too).

The food is amazing and given the fact its such high quality and the setting is so beautiful its not much more expensive than a normal pub.

The staff could not do enough for us and I was very pleased to hear that the tips go to the team in full. They've clearly had good training and more importantly had wonderful attitudes too.

I will definitely be going back soon.
