Brilliant hotel for business travellers (or for spectators at the stadium). Very clean, consistent wifi, polite staff, comprehensive breakfast offering and access to a full-size Virgin Active gym next door. 10min walk from Twickenham centre and train station.

If you have time, read on for the full report.

Booked this hotel through Booking.com which is where the problems started.

The website stated breakfast included but when we received the booking confirmation, it stated that breakfast was an additional £18.50 per head!

Contacted booking.com but they weren't interested, even with a screen shot of the ad showing the breakfast included. We won't be using their services again.

To the hotel; upon arrival, everything seemed up together. Ryan, the concierge, was helpful and polite.

We were unable to check into our room at that time but if we upgraded, we could check in, get free guest wifi and a discount on the extortionate breakfast.

As we were only using the hotel to sleep after watching a Coldplay concert, we decided an upgrade was not for us.

Whilst filling in the guest documents, Ryan explained that it could be over an hour before our room could be ready so we decided to check in properly, later and head off for lunch/dinner and the concert.

The lounge area of the hotel was clean and tidy.

Before leaving the hotel we used the conveniences. Unfortunately, all of the urinals were cordoned off with tape in the gents W.C's.

There is drop off parking to the front of the hotel which is convenient but the long stay parking is around the back of the stadium.

After the concert, we returned to the hotel, admittedly it was late/early (2.30am) and we still had to be assigned a room.

Considering we were at the hotel earlier in the day and gave our details, signed some documents, you would think it would be easy to issue a key. 20 minutes later we had our key.

Very tired, we retired to our room. It was large but as soon as we entered, there were noticeable staines on the carpet.

Feeling a little parched, we thought we might have a drink but with only basic tea and coffee in the room, we decided to skip it.

Checking out the rest of the facilities, we found a previous occupants 'body hair' on the bathroom floor.

The room was very warm so we turned the air con down. The temperature display showed 24.6 degrees! I turned the temperature down to 19 degrees.

The temperature never went below 24 degrees! We would have opened the windows to get some cooler air in the room but they were screwed shut.

The view from the window was a wall, a big white wall of the stadium.

Under normal circumstances, we would have complained about the above but as we were so tired, we did not have the energy.

We would have mentioned our issues to the concierge the following morning but upon checking out, we were barely spoken to, she lifted her head from her computer screen, asked our room number and just said the bill was settled. No enquiry about our stay or friendly 'have a safe journey' just put her gaze firmly back on the computer screen.

This is supposed to be a 4 star establishment. The standard room only rate is £209! The breakfast is ridiculously expensive for what you get. The hospitality is seriously lacking, the facilities are inadequate.

Would we stay here again? Definitely not.

Would we recommend it to friends and family?
Definitely not.

Future guests beware, stay here at your own risk of disappointment.

Third time stayed over after the rugby. Not to previous standards. No bar snacks available but when found restaurant was full they relented. Wished hadnt bothered. Cold bar snacks arrived almost begrudgingly from staff. Had to go to bar to order unlike previous visits. Breakfast however was excellent apart from lack of mushrooms. Liked latest technology in shower rail technology

Me and my partner stayed here for one night before we set off on our holiday.
We checked in late, and the lovely receptionist upgraded our room to the Pitch View Suite. Obviously we were delighted with this!
The room and bathroom was fantastic and in the moonlight the stadium view from our window looked amazing.
Only downside was that we arrived too late to enjoy the full amenities!
Would make a great stop over hotel for games at the stadium etc!

Booked through Marriott website with a deal that included a London travel pass. This hotel is only 15-20 min walk or short taxi ride from rail station for a swift train to central London (Waterloo Station). The hotel room was large, comfortable and bright, the reception staff could not have been more helpful and the breakfast good. All in all no complaints and will stay again.

Room tip: Avoid rooms facing a wall
